Fixed pin options vs sliders
So I know this topic has been mildly beat to death but I still have a few questions that I can't seem to get an answer to. I've tried googling it but the internet is a big place and opinions are all over the place. So, I figured I'd ask and see if anyone had gone through a similar experience or had any insights.
Firstly my current setup for a sight is a basic trophy ridge 3 pin. I think its either a gem or a fatal 3. Either way, not an expensive sight. That being said I can shoot well with it. However, making an adjustment to it is less than pleasing. So, I'm looking to upgrade.
First option, another fixed pin, preferably 3 but maybe 5 pins. I've been looking around and the best options I've found thus far are a CBE tactic and then the black gold rush and widow maker. The CBE seems ok, and gets good reviews for being made in china, and while the adjustments are tool-less I question if it is a real worthwhile upgrade from the basic trophy ridge. The black gold rush there again seems nice, I love the idea of the unconditional warranty, although I'd hope to never use it. There again though, no micro adjust, although the reviews are far better than the trophy ridge. Moving up to the widow maker, I really like this sight on paper, but the price is steep. That's my only concern.
Second option, go with a slider. If I'm looking at the black gold widow maker, is it worth it to just spend the extra $50 and get the ascent whitetail? Thats really the only question I have. The sliders intrigue me but it also seems like too much stuff going on. I like to keep things simple.
I hunt in the north east. All of my deer shots even with firearms have been within 50 yards minus 2 exceptions. So its more quick and in your face rather than the western style you see when you google these kinds of questions. I do spend time on the 3d range close by but I'm there for fun not competition. I asked my local bow shop and they tried to get me into the ascent whitetail, but I wanted to do more research before I made the decision.
