Body scanner at Oslo airport

Hi!

I’m flying to Norway soon. Is going through this „box” - body scanner mandatory for every passenger (I know you can opt out and undergo hand search)?

You just walk into this „shuttle” and get scanned every time or you just go through metal detecting gates and if additional screening is needed you will be guided to body scanner?

I’m an anxious person and I want to know what to expect during my travel :)

Small stones and a seashell from the sea - traveling by plane

Hi!

EDIT:

We put it in my bf hand luggage and it needed to be extra checked but nobody was opening it. Security guy just touched it all over and that’s all. Not sure if it has something to do with stones.

Why such a thing can happen? Bag selected for extra xray? I’m curious, nevermind the stones.

Is it legal to take a few small stones and one seashell from a beach in Denmark and bring them with me by plane to Poland, within the Schengen area?

The stones are small and just for personal use.

Could I have any problems at the airport because of this?

I don’t think so but it’s good to be sure.

Missed a dose 6 hours ago - what to do?

Hi!

I should have taken my dose 6 hours ago. I feel
withdrawal symptoms.
I am able to take my dose right now. I take it 2 times a day 11AM and 4PM.
It’s 9:30 PM and I should have taken it at 4PM.

What to do? The time for next dose will be at 11AM. I’m on vacation and I’m scared of the symptoms.

Clothes care label and polyester - can it get flagged by scanner?

Hi!

I want to dress as simple as possible.

Can body scanner flag the care labels that are inside of the garments eg t-shirt?

Can I wear polyester leggings or should I wear cotton ones? I’ve heard that scanner can flag polyester leggings because it’s a shiny material (mine are not shiny).

I will wear a bra without underwire but I wonder if bra hook fastening can trigger the machine?

Can I wear glasses to body scanner?

And also, what to do with my nipple titanium piercing?

Thank you in advance! :)

First weeks on higher dose - can I get less drowsy?

Hi!

I have just recently upped from 30 mg to 40 mg because of tapering off a little of my other meds and feeling super anxious (I’ve had my psych appointment)
It was two weeks ago.

For the first week nothing has changed. On friday I felt less anxious and was suprised. At saturday and sunday my mood was definitely good. Today I’m sedated as f..

Have you felt too sedated and slow when starting or upping the dose? I have upped two weeks ago and the drowsiness is kicking in. I have other meds too, I was on 40 mg (i’m now on 40 too) and I was completely detached to the point I was not able to think clear. Now I have much lower doses of other meds and I hope that the drowsiness from 40 mg will subside… I also feel skin tingling so it’s definitely working. And big headache.

I just want to feel ok, I take it AT NIGHT.

Is there any chance that things will get better?

I wonders if taking it in the morning will make things worse.

Prozac and being sedated - upping the dose

It was two weeks ago.

For the first week nothing has changed. On friday I felt less anxious and was suprised. At saturday and sunday my mood was definitely good. Today I’m sedated and detached.

Is it normal to feel too sedated and slow when starting or upping the dose? I have upped two weeks ago and the drowsiness is kicking in. My doc said nothing informative about it.

How to dress for body scanner?

Hi!

How should I dress to go through body scanner so my clothes eg. folds, too loose, too tight, polyester won’t get flagged? Does the material matter?

If something flags me randomly that’s shitty but okay, I just want to feel more comfortable and prepared. :)

I’m a woman, not fat, don’t have any implants etc. I have a titanium piercing (n*pple) but I will either remove it before flight and say bye bye to my piercing hole or wear plastic retainer.

Traveling with controlled psychiatric meds in the EU

Hi!
I’m flying to Denmark from Poland for a few days in August. I’ll be bringing my SSRI medication and one benzodiazepine, which I take for anxiety from time to time. I might leave the benzodiazepine behind if it’s likely to cause any issues, but I’d prefer to have it with me because I’m a bit anxious about flying.

I have a few questions:

  1. Do I really need any official government certificate for the benzodiazepine (for example, from the Pharmaceutical Inspectorate or another relevant authority)?
Poland and Denmark recommend it but I wonder if it’s really mandatory in Schengen. My friends fly with prescription and doctor certificate only.

I already have my prescription and a letter/certificate from my psychiatrist. Will that be enough?

  1. Should I carry my medications in blister packs (since I’m only staying for 4 days), or should I bring them in their original boxes? Or does it not really matter?

Do you have any other advice about travelling with controlled medications (or prescription medications in general) or going through airport security?
This will only be my second flight ever, and my first time travelling with these medications.
What have your experiences been with travelling with prescription medications?

For context, every medication I plan to bring is legal in the destination country.

Body scanner, pat down and trauma

Hi! I know that the rules in US are a bit different than in UE but not so much.

I wonder what to do in this situation. I’m a r*pe victim, my body was involuntarily exposed by the people who are meant to save lives. I have autism.

In EU the pat down is just PAT down. I’ve had anxiety anyway.

This new frisk method probably would send me to the airport medical room dragged by force as I probably piss myself or dissociate so bad that it’s hard to come back to my senses.

I’m never aggressive nor rude!

I’m on therapy of course.

Should I say this r*pe thing to the airport guard if I will be patted down? Anything will change? I know that I can go to the private area but if my boyfriend can’t be present in this room I would never go there - I prefer being touched in front of everyone or around the corner then.

How should I dress to avoid being flagged by body scanners? They use it in EU too. I have flied once in my life and been patted down, I remember fear and then my mind just forgot the feeling.

Will the sunflower laynyard help a bit with this procedure being more „gentle” or something… Or they can pick me up because of the laynyard.

I understand safety measures but it’s hard for me.

First flight to Denmark and body scanners - please advise

Hi!

I will be flying to Denmark in August.

I have fear of being touched, pat down is humiliating for me (it’s necessary I know!)

  1. Do Kopenhagen airport has body scanners at every gate?

  2. What if they flag you? Metal wand or pat down?

  3. Is the pat down aggressive like in US where they slide a palm between your breasts and literally massage your body (check it out, not good)?

Or it’s just regular pat down like quick frisk?

  1. What to wear to avoid my clothes being flagged in body scanner?

I have autism and horrible anxiety.

Will the sunflower laynyard help? I don’t want to bring guards’ attention..

Tapered way too fast - go back?

Hi!

I’ve been on 400 mg for 3 months and I’ve started having big side effects with time.

I was good on 300mg back then but me and doc were like „yeah it can be even better”.
I started to have nausea, extreme headache, hot flashes, vertigo weakness and I was dumb as f. The dose has reached its full potential after 2 months and it has become too high.

My doctor was not available and I’ve had an appointment with another psych.
She said that I can go back to 300mg but I need to go to 325 mg for a week and then 300mg.

Now I know that’s way too fast.

I feel better than before but I have side effects from tapering off - not surprised. I feel dizzy and weak and like I’m underwater, I’m so detached but I do good at work. Hot flashes, nausea, migraine etc have passed away.

I have reduced dose too fast

(dose reduction was consulted with a doctor)

Hi!

I’ve been on 400 mg for 3 months and I’ve started having big side effects with time.

I was good on 300mg back then but me and doc were like „yeah it can be even better”.

My doctor was not available and I’ve had an appointment with another psych.
She said that I can go back to 300mg but I need to go to 325/375 mg for a week and then 300mg.

Now I know that’s way too fast.

I feel better than before but I have side effects from tapering off - not surprised. I feel dizzy and weak and like I’m underwater, I’m so detached but I do good at work. Hot flashes, nausea, migraine etc have passed away.

It has been 3 days on 325 mg. Should I up this to 350 mg maybe? Or is it too late and it’s better for me to stay on 325 mg and survive the week?

Reducing dose by 50 mg does nothing but on 75 mg I feel better (i don’t have hot flashes and nausea and muscle spasms)…. BUT I also have bigger withdrawal symptoms. I don’t know what will be worse.

Nausea and feverish feeling after Lamictal dose increase

Hi!

Female 28 years old 158 cm height

BPD with psychotic anxiety + PTSD

I’ve been taking Lamictal since September. I was previously on 300 mg, and at first I had mild nausea and dry skin. The nausea went away after a few months.
This drug is a miracle and it has saved me. I’ve tried dozens of meds and they do well but nothing has worked for this type of anxiety.

About two months ago, my psychiatrist increased my dose to 400 mg. The higher dose does seem to help even more, but it also makes me more sleepy and emotionally indifferent. I can live with that.

What worries me is that over the last 2–3 weeks my nausea has become noticeably worse. For the past two weeks I’ve also been getting hot flashes and sweating, and I sometimes feel weak, like I could faint. The strange thing is that I’m still functioning normally.

Bloodwork is ok. I have also had lamotrigine levels in blood checked and I’m waiting for the results. I’m not sure if this helps.

I have **no rash**, no actual fever (even though I feel like I have one), I’m not sick with a virus, and I haven’t started any new medications or changed my diet recently.

Is it possible for Lamictal side effects to become more noticeable **around two months after increasing the dose**, or is that unlikely?

I have an appointment scheduled but doc is not 100% sure if the side effects are from Lamictal itself.

This medication has honestly been life-changing for me. Nothing else has worked for my very specific symptoms, so I’d really like to stay on it if possible.Im going to see a doc anyway.

Dizziness and nausea/fainting

Hi!

I was on 300 mg and I was having mild nausea for months but this med has helped me soo much.

It was manageable but now I’m on 400 mg and my mental health has never been better but after each dose I feel so nauseous and dizzy that I have fainted one time.

Have you had similar?

Does it went away a bit after dose decrease?

Red patches on the hairy skin

Hi,

Every summer my bf has this skin problem. They are peeling of like dandruff sometimes. Of course he also has dandruff and skin on his head looks similar but it’s not that bad. Ketoconazole shampoo helps when it comes to dandruff but it’a far from perfect.

However, those patches on crotch, chest etc are not responding to ketoconazole, clotrimazolum, oral fluconazol.

The most important thing: they appear after he is sweaty in the summer.

I’m trying to persuade him to see a dermatologist but he is on the autism spectrum and hates doctor’s office and to be examined. Maybe in the future..

He keeps GOOD HYGIENE.
