Why are adulterous men treated as studs while adulterous women are home-wreckers?
I’m not justifying adultery in anyway, but nowhere else is the double standard that society applies on genders so blatantly visible.
Recently a South Indian movie star got divorced and rumours about his closeness to an actress was revealed. Nobody knows for sure whether their relationship caused the separation or was it the other way around.
But, society in general and women in particular were steadfast in calling the actress a home wrecker. Some of my friends don’t want to watch a Tamil movie released this weekend as it stars the said actress.
While the male actor is not just treated as a victim of a bad marriage but as a naive soul who got seduced. He even won a huge mandate for the general public and had a monumental success in politics recently.
