Should I go to an international festival during the academic year?
Hello everyone!
TL;DR: Should I go to an international festival during the academic year and skip a few days of university?
I’m in the following situation: I passed the selection for an international youth festival. Only two people from my university passed — me and one other person; all the others are in the reserve (so it’s a shame to have to turn it down). But the festival lasts for a week, and the region also pays for train tickets (so 2 more days for travel to and from the festival). I’m worried that I’ll miss too many classes (although we’re given a letter of invitation for the festival, and I might not have classes on Wednesday/Saturday). Also, I’ve already bought tickets to a show with my family for one of the days; it was hard to get those tickets.
On the other hand, what if, by not going to the festival, I miss out on opportunities?
What do you think is better — to decline participation or to go?
