Why your follower count is growing but your engagement isn’t

I have an agency and I’m trying to understand why some creators with 50k followers barely get comments, while smaller accounts have people constantly replying, saving posts and sharing their videos.

A viral post can bring you thousands of followers, but a lot of them might only care about that one video. Growing an audience and building an engaged audience are two different things, here’s what I discovered:

1)-Likes aren’t everything:

Likes are probably the easiest and weakest form of engagement. Comments, saves, shares and DMs tell you much more about whether people actually found the content useful or relatable.

A post with fewer likes but a lot of saves and shares can be way more valuable than a random viral video.

2)-Make content people would send or save:

Broad content is easy to scroll past, a specific content performs better because people immediately recognize themselves in it.

“Fitness tips” is vague “Things I wish I knew before joining a gym” feels much more personal.

Tutorials, checklists, comparisons and step by step posts also tend to get saved because users can come back and use tem later.

3)-Reply like a real person:

Ask a follow-up question, add some context or react to what they actually said in the comments, once people realize you genuinely reply, they’re much more likely to comment again.

4)-Stop using lazy CTAs:

“Thoughts?” or “Comment below” are so generic that most people just keep scrolling.

Specific questions are easier to answer, so ask people to choose between two options, share one experience or say what they would do differently.

5)-Don’t turn into a brand account:

People connect more with content that feels natural, you can plan your videos without making them sound like they’re ads

Too many sponsored posts can also hurt trust, if every other video promotes a completely different product, ur followers will unfollow you

The main takeaway is that follower count alone doesn’t mean much. A smaller audience that comments, saves, shares and trusts you can be much more valuable than a huge passive one.

unexpected hustle from here

i found an unexpected hustle by posting and commenting! it's commission based and it needs a lot of time, especially since you're waiting for the tasks to be available. but it's been so fun and def useful for anyone who is sitting at home, if you wanna know more feel free to reach out!

Beginner UGC Creator, how I work for brands (13k Followers & 1.5K)

I recently started working online, I just finished UNI and I still have my part-time job, so I spend a good part of my day at home. While exploring different online opportunities I discovered UGC, mainly through Reddit communities like this one.

I started with a few flat-fee videos, where the brand pays you a fixed amount (usually around $50 for me), they'd send the product and I just had to shoot the video.

Then some companies and brands started offering me CPM-based deals, meaning you get paid based on view performance. For these deals I have to post the videos on my own profile.

So I opened an Instagram page a couple of months ago, which quickly grew to 14K followers in the beauty and cosmetics niche. A couple of weeks ago I also started collaborating with a brand in the pet products niche, and to keep the niches separate I opened a new page.

At this point I'm only doing CPM deals and what I'm sharing here is the breakdown of the last month (technically since the start of April, so just under a month). On my first profile I hit 740K views, which felt pretty unthinkable to me. Out of those, 80K didn't count because those videos never crossed the 5K views minimum threshold we agreed on for CPM to kick in. A viral one, reached 285K views in a single week at a $1.30 CPM, that one video alone earned me $370. Another hit 230K at $1.00 CPM, and another 145K at $1.50, so an extra $217. Just from this profile, three viral videos brought in $817

On the new profile, with only 1,500 followers, one video hit 100K views in just a few hours. My phone was blowing up, and at a $1.30 CPM that earned me $130. Another reached 65K at $1.50, nearly $100, while the last one only hit 29K with a lower CPM, earning around $29 All in all, I made $1,070 in under a month from basically 6 well performing videos and a profile with just 1.5K followers. The "rejected" ones that didn't hit 5K were like 14, so with 20 videos in a month I managed to get over $1K

beginner tips?

hi everyone! i’ve recently started looking into Claude MCP, or Model Context Protocol, and i’m really interested in learning how people are actually using it in their everyday workflows (especially now in our generation!!)

from what i understand so far, MCP allows Claude to connect with external tools, files, databases, and other platforms instead of relying only on the information you manually paste into the chat. which sounds really useful, but also a little overwhelming as a beginner 😅

i’d also love to hear about any mistakes you made when you were first setting it up, so i know what to avoid!

Looking for Blog Content Collaborators

We’re looking for writers, bloggers, and content creators who are interested in creating fun and engaging content about Korean lifestyle and culture.

Topics may include K-beauty, fashion, food, cafés, travel, K-pop, Korean language, trends, and everyday life in Korea.

You don’t need to be an expert in everything, but we’d love to work with people who genuinely enjoy Korean culture, can write clearly, and are able to meet deadlines. This can be project-based or an ongoing collaboration, and compensation is open for discussion.

Interested? Send us a DM with a short introduction and your portfolio or sample works. The magazine will be launching on October, deadline will be until August 15 so we can work out the rates and details.

first ugc side hustle!

been grinding being a ugc side hustle and it finally starts paying off! got one of my first deals with a shop that sells wearable fandom merchandises. here's what helped me understand the business more!

  1. portfolio should not be full of paid work, gotta make it authentic as well because this will feel natural and more you. this attracts brands more
  2. give a reason why you want to work with the brand to create stronger bond (dont miss out on the smaller brands/shops too!)
  3. rejections are okay! not the end of the world
  4. track your goals, always strive for the next best thing!

here are some of the things i've learned, what else do you guys suggest?? thanks a lot!

beginner ugc!

i've been learning more about UGC lately (currently starting up with my tiktok account as it was the best platform as of now to get brand deals etc.) and it is definitely hard work especially when trying to gain followers and being trustworthy in their eyes. it's so important to keep publishing so the algorithm works in your favor but you gotta remember that you need to have good content. you gotta improve and know how to stand out

a few things i've learned so far:

  1. create different types of samples to build your portfolio (sooo many different aesthetics out there)
  2. keep creating and improving your content, even if there is no brand deal on the line
  3. reach out!!! a lot of the times, brands would accept you and if they don't, don't get discouraged by it
  4. lastly!!! love what you're doing!!

i'm still figuring things out, hopefully i can make this as my main income,, for any ugc creators out there,, are there any tips/advices you can give?? thank you!!
