Interview with Graham's actor, this is what he says about Jodie:

Andrew says the full picture will soon become clear. “It’s still all to come out,” he says. “I think there’s been a bit of confusion. He wasn’t going to kill her. That wasn’t the job. He was taking her to somebody, then realised this person was bad. So he kind of let her go really. I think you do find out bits, and I think possibly later on you’ll find out a bit more about the guys and who they were. It was a good mechanism to get Graham back, so it caused a bit of intrigue and hopefully it will be resolved.”
