H&S Infinity leaking air?

Hi all

I recently upgraded my H&S Ultra to the Infinity 2in1.

I didn’t use it for a few weeks while I continued to get used to airbrushing, but now I’ve started using it I’ve discovered a problem.

The 0.2mm nozzle works fine, but when I install the 0.4 I’m getting air back in the cup automatically, and even in the biggest cup I’m finding paint is bubbling over.

It’s brand new - the nozzle is screwed on properly so no seals can be worn at this stage - any ideas?

Thanks

Terrain project begins…

First building I’ve ever painted and happy with how this came together in the end. No dry brushing, kinda made it up as I went along after looking at a couple of photos.

3D printed in FDM…

Is there any point in owning both a Commando and British Airborne army?

As per the title, I'm currently building an Airborne force and wondering if there's any points in adding a commando force too? I've come across a relatively cheap Commando army, but just wondering if there's any point as having 2 veteran forces may not be a wise investment (wondering whether I should buy a box of 30 british infantry to make up some regular rifle/LMG squads instead)

Thoughts?

Opinions needed - British airborne painting

Need your opinion please people! I’ve started painting my British airborne after finishing my Germans.

The Germans took me so long, as my workflow was Prime -> base coat -> wash -> highlight -> 2nd highlight

Trying to speed up my British Airborne and experimenting a little more with contrast paints, and mixing things up.

I’ve painted a couple of different models and wanted to get opinions. These aren’t completely finish, none of the models have had much in the way of highlights applied (trousers on the paler models but that’s about it).

The thing I can’t decide on is how to paint the denison smocks.

One pair of models has been painted with AP Pallid bone speed paint as the smock base, the other pair have AK Quick Gen Desert Sand, which is a lot more saturated.

So my plan was - rather than use any washes, the smock base would be a contrast paint, with the camo pattern painted on top in normal acrylics and just left at that.

Thoughts?

More vehicles!

My second vehicle attempt - Getting the weathering down a bit better now, and better airbrush trigger control. These vehicles appear oversaturated in the photos, in reality they’re a bit duller - more like how they appear in the last 2 photos here.

First ever tank paintjob

Took me a while and I’m still getting used to using an airbrush, but really like how this came out. Need a lot more practice with weathering but it’s a start 😊

Completed German infantry

Completed German Grenadiers

Took me a while but I’m happy with how these turned out. Still a few bits to do (like my German CO’s iron cross is still black)…there’s a few Waffen SS in here too

Bought a painted US army from ebay...

...and now that I've got it, it's great I have a pre-painted army complete and ready to roll, but the models look very poor compared to what I've done with my own painting.

I'd like to up the quality a little but with minimal time (whilst my efforts look much better it's taken me quite a while to paint my German army).

Wondering what suggestions people would make that doesn't involve stripping and re-painting. I have noticed that the metal figures don't look to have been primed, as there's bare metal showing through on quite a few edges and recesses (probably not been varnished either).

I've got a mix of speedpaints, and Vallejo colour and air ranges, and the usual washes like military shade, strong tone, agrax earthshade etc.

Any suggestions?

So I just saw this in my local supermarket…

Having collected all of SK’s books I stumbled across this in my local Tesco.

My collection is 90% Hodder rainbow paperbacks (love them!), and 10% Hodder hardbacks, and literally the only books missing is the Talisman - I read it 20 years ago I think and from memory my copy ended up in a charity shop.

I remember absolutely nothing about the book but I had to pick this up!

Firstly, I absolutely love this cover, very cool
Secondly….surprised to see a UK iRRP of £14.99 for a paperback 😮 (thanks Tesco - £6 on their shelves!)

Thirdly….maybe I’ve been under a rock but I had no idea King and Straub have written the third book and it comes out in October??? 😮

All this from going to buy some onions😂

First time airbrushing tanks

My first time working with an airbrush, this is the base coat on top of a black primer.

Question before I proceed with adding the camo, is this base opaque enough or do I need to layer it up more? I’ve tried to pick out panels to give more depth but not sure if this is right

Have I just messed up my German Grenadiers list?

New to the game, and I've been building my Grenadiers, and have been quite a few with ARs....I've now read a few posts where people say ARs make no sense in third edition, which is a bit of a bummer when every grenadier sprue has several arms-holding-ARs. I don't know enough of the nuances of the game to work out the best loadouts yet, but I find it strange to have so few SMGs in the Grenadiers box (2 per sprue, and they are just separate weapons) if the ARs are not worth taking. Am I missing something?

Pistols on platoon commanders? And mixing STGs with rifles?

I'm just putting together my German Grenadier force, and noticed my HQ pack of figures only have pistols. Just curious if people run with platoon commanders just with pistols, as in most situations they're going to be ineffective I would have thought? New to the game, so looking to be educated :-)

Also, as late war my germans have access to assault rifles. Do people mainly build infantry squads full of these, or mix them in with rifle squads?

For example, my go-to infrantry squad build is:

7 infantry + 1 NCO

6 Rifles

1 LMG

NCO with assault rifle

1 x panzerfaust

And.....

Veteran squad with all Assault rifles instead of normal rifles

OR....

Do I mix in assault rifles with the normal rifles?
