Jade finish question.

question, how do you copy a polished jade finish? I tried on 4 spoon with different process... seems like I'm missing something to make it like a jadeite / polished jade.

Paint coming out speckled

Still new to airbrushing and I’ve been having a hard time with white. Everything I use it. The paint always comes out speckled and not smooth.

Air compressor is at 2 bar
I’m making sure the tip has nothing on it
I am using thinner to help thin the paints down

Dedicated primer/top coat airbrush?

Hey r/advancedgunpla I was wondering how many of you have a dedicated second brush for just primer or top coat and what size nozzle you would recommend for it?

I was looking at the cheap dspaie one since I can just keep the primer in permanent bottles but it looks pretty splotchy but maybe it’s fine for my use case. maybe a cheaper iwata or other brand for it.

Very Low Airflow Through New Eclipse

Hey everyone. Just picked up a new Eclipse and was excited to try it out but I'm immediately running into issues. I'm getting very low flow through the brush regardless of the inlet pressure my compressor is set to.

My assumption was a clog or something but I can't find anything. I've fully disassembled the brush, checked that everything is clean and seated properly. Is there a secret set up step with these that I'm now aware of?

Attached is running at around 20 psig / 1.4 barG. I get this issue regardless of additive or whether I'm spraying inks, water, or IPA. I get the same low pressure with the cap removed. So I don't think it's that

Any thoughts?

Edit: Pretty sure the o-ring that sits on top of the air valve is missing. So instead of air going through the channel to where all the paint is it just comes out the top. So I'm getting really low pressure through the tool

This thing hates me - any advice?

When I first started using this brush, it worked wonderfully! It's dual action, it's siphon fed. It's all that I want in an airbrush.

However, for the life of me I am struggling immensely getting this thing to continue to draw paint. I've deep cleaned it multiple times (taken it completely apart), thinned out the paint, even cleaned the nozzles and hose on the paint jars I've got. It will work if I briefly shake my paint jar while it's attached, but basically it fills the chamber and once it's dispensed the paint I can try to shake it again, but it doesn't always work.

Does anyone have the same problem? It's not my compressor because it works perfectly fine with any other airbrush, in fact I was using the master brush G22 Model to finish my project because the S68 wouldn't draw the paint. Please help and thanks in advance!

I was able to fix the airbrush but the new sparamax compressor just don’t want to show the pressure?

I got a new airbrush compressor there comes air out but the regulator don’t show the pressure is it broken or is it something dad I have missed?

I got it like a week ago and it’s a Sparmax TC-610H plus.it was really expensive so really bad if it does not work properly

Upgrading airbrush- old ultra to giraldez mk2?

About a year ago, I was gifted an old ultra (definitely not the 2024 one) with some replacement nibs and have been learning to airbrush using it. I got myself a tank compressor and it’s been serving me well enough, painting models primarily. I can comfortably do large surfaces with it and have used it for priming and base coats. However, when it came to detail it doesn’t feel comfortable or precise whatsoever. The lever feels a little clunky and difficult to manage.

I started looking into what brushes could make for a good secondary, something nicer and higher end. I’ve seen a lot of people recommend things like the iwata eclipse, the evo 24 and creos brushes, but they seem more “generalist” middle of the line. I’d like to splurge a bit on a nice tool and that led me to the giraldez mk2. I’ve seen people voicing their complaints about the first and the base infinity model, and that a lot of these have been fixed in the mk2. A big pro for me was the aspect of all the parts for the base infinity and evo being compatible with the giraldez so if I want to try different parts it’s not a hard change. (With the exception of the bigger paint cup ofc) the price is not a concern for me and I understand that I can get a lot of longevity in the long run with it.

So this brings me to the point of this post. Would the giraldez be a good buy to use as a precision secondary alongside my ultra as a workhorse? Should I consider something else instead? Any help would be appreciated thank you in advance!!!!

I can push my needle all the way true the tip without force

Hi, I'm new to airbrush. Bought myself a H&S Ultra 2024. After a while I did a "deep clean". When I put the airbrush back together and don't have a stopping point aka I can push the needle all the way true without force. And there for the airbrush isn't working perfect. The paint is coming true but enough like it should.

How can I fix this?

total noob looking for help

Hello, i have bought a prize compressor made for normal work (https://www.jemogfix.dk/kompressor-stoejsvag-1-0-hk-og-24-l-tank-prize/3151/9054816/) which has a 1/4 fitting.

I was thinking to just get a 1/4=1/8 hoze (https://airbrush-shop.dk/slanger-og-koblinger/56-airbrush-slange-3-meter-1-4.html) hook that up to the Sparmax Silver Bullet MAC to get rid of possible condensation and to adjust pressure more accurately.

It seems pretty straight forward but this is very new territory for me so just wanted some confirmation or maybe even ridicule to check if what i am doing is right.

Could I use my airbrush compressor to detail my car? (Cool tooty by no name)

My question is about the couplers and adapters. I have a hose with 1/8 inch on each ending. What would I need to get to make the end to put the attachment fit an attachment that takes a standard 1/4 inch? I’m a little slow when it comes to this as I didn’t need to buy any adapter or anything when it came to just hooking up my airbrush. Would I need to buy a different hose and all that? Thanks in advance -a single mom who just tryna get the most out of her air compressor lol

Am I missing out by being obsessed with subtractive colors and CMY (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow)?

My choice of colors has been reduced to pretty much three: Magenta (more like red), cyan (more like blue), and yellow.

Mostly because I have only one airbrush, so it takes time shift from one color to another. I used to have greens and purples and such, but all the pigments always worked differently (they're not really airbrush colors), and I seem to do just fine with these three.

But I can't help but feel, that I'm missing out on something. Worth noting, that I dont have white, so that's a minus because I cant do highlights.

Need help

I’m a complete beginner and don’t really know what I’m doing so please be kind 😊, I have an iawata eclipse and have used it on one project before I dropped it and bent the needle, I bought a new needle and the small piece that holds the needle at the end and now I haven’t been able to use it, in this vid I’m just using water to test how it sprays….im not sure what’s wrong but if I need to get any replacement parts or anything please let me know. Thanks! 😊

Mr. Finishing Surfacer precautions?

I've only ever used acrylic. Weather is making priming by rattle can very difficult.

I've seen this stuff and painter Ninjon swears by it, the finished product speaks for itself. My booth doesn't reach a window. Will a carbon filter, on top of booth filter suffice? I'd situate the exit vent over filter.

Mask and goggles are obvious.

Custom Goalie Mask Airbrush

My name is Charles Forino. Currently I'm a goalie playing juniors hockey in NJ, but I'm also the creator of LastLineDesign goalie masks. We are a goalie mask painting business that recently started up this summer, but personally I've been painting masks for almost 4 years now so any design you can think of, I can paint. I started painting because I simply ran out of helmets to paint and I wanted to share my gift with the world. Although we've only been around for a short amount of time we have had great success painting various helmets around the U.S. If you're looking to get anything custom airbrushed feel free to check out our website to learn more: LastLineDesign.com. Or you can check out our Instagram u/LastLineDesign. Everything you need to know can be found on our website and if you have any questions please reach out to me either through Instagram or our website.

Airbrush issue?

So I've had an airbrush for a couple days and Ive noticed that when I press the trigger down to get the air going paint also starts to be released. I'm not pulling back on the trigger (I think). Ive checked the locking nut for the needle and it seems to go as far forward as it can. Any suggestions? It's the Gaahleri ambition series kit

Am I cooked?

Recently picked up this rare 0.2mm Meiji MP-1 airbrush for a pretty good price, only to notice that the tip was broken upon taking the nozzle off (Yes I know, rookie mistake.)

Is it done for?

For someone with like zero artistic abilities, quite pleased with the outcome of this 3D print/paint job

For info, not my 3D model. Printed/painted for my little girl's newly decorated bedroom
