VIP subscription

Hi everyone,

I am currently a VIP with LOTRO. I cancelled my 3-month subscription in order to change my membership to a yearly subscription. I found out after the fact about the change subscription option. Anyways, my cancelled subscription is valid until 8/28 of this year. I want to sign up for the yearly subscription before the price increase on 7/1 in order to get the "grandfathered-in" price.

If I purchase the yearly subscription now, will it charge me immediately? Or when my current subscription ends on 8/28?

Slate excitement

With the recent announcement about upcoming Preorders on June 24th, I'm starting to get really excited again about the prospect of getting a Slate. I put in my reservation on 4/28/25. I've read a lot of the discourse, and I'm just not phased by a lot of the concerns. I'm not saying they're not valid. What I AM saying is that I'm willing to take the risk on a first-gen, and I'm curious how many of you are feeling the same?

Here's how I see it:

It is a simple vehicle. It will be relatively affordable. And for my particular situation, it will be a perfect fit. I currently have a 2016 Tesla Model S that my wife and I share. We are used to the EV life. We are going to still have the Tesla after we get the Slate. While the Slate is pretty bare bones compared to most new vehicles, it does have A/C, cruise control, a back-up camera, and even has automatic emergency braking and forward collision warning. Here's what I can say about some of the cons:

The 150-mile battery range. This is absolutely fine for me. I have a 35 mile round-trip commute. Even charging through a regular 120V outlet, my Tesla is able to charge that amount back every day after work with minimal (if any) range loss. If I ever need to drive more than that, there is the option to stop by a Tesla supercharger since the Slate has the NACS port.

No speakers/Radio/infotainment system. Not an issue for me. I have a Beats Pill portable speaker. Slate offers a mount under the dash for this. The speaker will play music/take phone calls, and my phone can handle the navigation. That's all I need. I don't need a radio.

Will it be big enough? One of my biggest concerns was if I would fit inside of it. I'm 6'4. Slate released a video of a 6'9 individual inside and around the truck. I've been cramming myself into all kinds of uncomfortable cars for years. The Slate is unlikely to be a luxurious ride, but I'm sure it will be just fine for my commute and errand runs.

"It will be cheaper to just buy a used Maverick". I'm tired of hearing this. I don't want a Maverick. I want a Slate.

There haven't been any reviews or test drives. I'm also fine with this. Or, I'm willing to take the risk. Of course there's a risk with a first-gen vehicle from an unproven manufacturer. There will be issues and quirks that pop up. I'm confident I can do most of the regular maintenance myself with the help of the "Slate University". With things outside of my skillset, they've mentioned they will have a repair partner network. I want to see them succeed and continue to innovate. If nobody buys year 1 Slate trucks, there will not be a year 2. I've been impressed with the transparency we've seen from the company, and it seems like they have a bunch of industry veterans that have done the work.

I'm planning on getting a blank Slate with only a few factory upgrades: a roof rack, fender flares, a different style grille, the "Bring your own" speaker mount, and steering wheel Bluetooth controls. I'm planning on upgrading the wheels/tires later, but I'll go with the factory steelies and Kenda tires to start. I'll also grab a set of WeatherTech floormats for it once available. While pricing has not been announced, I'd imagine this will still put me under $30K. To me that's totally reasonable for what I'm getting in return. Affordable and simple, that's what I'm looking for. Is anyone else feeling similarly?
