What a week

I usually go home every weekend, but opted to stay out to get a better load to end last week. Figured hey.. it should set me up for some decent stuff this week (it did not). First go to a shipper that took FOREVER to load people, not the worst thing but still..

Then go to a shipper that as SOON as i get there, a tornado warning hits. Heavy storm, hard winds, shipper and like everyone in a relative area lose power. Shipper sends all workers home and says they wont be able to load until MAYBE 530pm at the best, if enoigh pelople show up (they doubt they will). FM gets me off that load to a new one.

New one is schedueld to load at 7pm, and will not allow to load earlier, even though there is like no one there. Not the end of the world, just annoying. Get let in at 7pm... and they proceed to not load me until lile 9pm. Get out around 1030 with loading and securment done.

Get a nice easy load for today. Steel beams, super simple what can go wrong? Get to shipper and pull in. Get told im at the wrong lot, direct me out and across the street to the sign that says "truck entrance." Know what? Fair i missed that. Go over there and ask wherw shipping office is. "Im not sure but i think its off that way" - points in a direction "but its not on this lot".... okay. Cant find it still, run into a yard jockey who says to follow him and he will show me... takes me back to the original building i was at, where it indeed was the whole time.

Cool, great, lets get loaded. Get paperwork, told to go back to the 2nd lot i was sent to, and where to park. Get loaded and secured. Im outta here time to go home for the weekend! Woo! -FM calls "yea i need you to go back. They called me and said they gave you a wrong item and shorted you a couple beams." ..... time to backtrack 15 minutes or so, undo all my securement and unload i suppose.

Load is fixed, resecured, and im on my way home, lets go!

....truck making weird rumbling as i drive down the road.need to do a load check anyway.. lets check the tires. Drive tire went out, and is off the rim. 1 1/2 hours from home and now have to wait for a dang tire repair truck to come fix my tire. I just wanted to go home man. Lmao

Is it the worst week? Definately not, others will jave way worse stories obviously but just one thint after another this week gah

Appointments feel so worthless

I know if has been said a million times, im sure.. but they really feel worthless.

You get all these places are are "so strict" on appointments. They insist you can ONLY be there on X date at X time. If you show up early? No no. Thats not your appointment time you need to wait.. which would be FINE (sort of) of they.. actually followed it themselves. Every time i go somewhere that has hard appointments and you HAVE to be there in that window, they take like an hour + after checkin just to pull you let alone who knows how long to load/unload you.. so what was the point in telling me i HAD to be here at that time if you arent going to take care of me at that time.

Rant over: just complaining a bit because its annoying

Curious: would you take this job?

Now to start off and state, i have no interest (at this time) in quitting my current job. I like it over all, atm, but would like an opinion from more experienced people on if they would find a gig like this worth while to them as a frame of reference to my options later down the line if i wanted to.

There is a local company in my area that is looking for CDL drivers that can do doubles/tripples. Its a W2 job for over nights on a non-stop trip to 1 of 2 places nearby. Both if which places are.. roughly a 4-6 hour drive one way. No touch freight, hauling loaded doubles to the destination and dropping them off before hooking 2 emptys to bring back.

4 days a week, 23/hr, home daily, and of course does have interior cameras.

As an INEXPERIENCED driver? It doesnt sound like a terrible gig to me, as long as one is willing to take a (assumed) bit of a paycut to get home every day and get actual time off.

Would you guys take a offer like that? Or would you find the pay/hours too low for you? Just idle curiosity (yes i know everyones sotuation is different lol)

Bed frame question

A while back i think my SO and I decided when we have the spare we want to upgrade to a hybrid purple mattress from my current like.. $600 mattress/box spring combo (that kinda sucks)

For the moment though.. the bed frame itself broke a while back and has been kinda on the list of things to replace. Im looking at gling ahead and doing that now, replacing the box spring and frame at the same time woth a nice platform frame. My only question/concern here is.. if i were to get a king size frame and put my queen size mattress on it for the time being while i work to get the mattress next, would that cause any issues?

I wasnt sure if having a smaller mattress on a frame too large for it would be an issue or not. Might be a dumb question but rather safe than sorry

I was looking to put a mini fridge in my truck, it didnt have to be too big as i will be home most weekends anyway. I work for TMC and didnt get one of the newer trucks that has a dedicated mini fridge slot sadly, and so am having trouble finding something that will work in the truck.

I cant take the cabinets apart, like i have seen some suggest as i know any time i got in for service i woulf have to reassmble it every time, and nothing seems to fit inside said cabinets as its too wide.. any suggestions? I would like to have an option to take food with me so im not stuck buying truck stop/fast food all the time. For now i got me a microwave so i can atleast be taking shelf stable stuff to eat when i want but still other options would be nice 😅

Any suggestions on what might work? I know my trainer had said i could just get a regular mini fridge and put it on the floor but.. from my measurements atleast it would take like almost all of said floor space so am trying to figure oit what else i might be able to do
