Nurses are deflecting at our request to let my Mom in the hospital atrium for a moment...

The nurses are deflecting at our request to let my mom outside in the atrium on Saturday when it's suppose to be over 80 and sunny. This is kind of a last wish sorta of thing. She isn't hooked up to a ventilator, no chest tubes, no nothing.

She only has her peg tube which can be unhooked after she eats and supplemental oxygen. They're focusing on her comfort right now. The first time I asked was "because it wont fit through the doors" then second time we asked tonight was because of "her condition" well they aren't trying to make her better anymore. They're just treating symptoms until she dies. Quadriplegic people get around just fine in wheel chairs. They could hoist her in a broda chair or just push her fucking bed in the atrium since it's literally right next to the elevator.

My sister was there when we asked and she worked in a nursing home for five years so she pressed the stupid nurse on it. Hopefully the doctor won't give her shit when she asks again tomorrow. It's literally only for thirty minutes to an hour of being outside. There are literally frail 80 and 90 year olds sitting in wheel chairs in a nursing home and my mom is still able to move her arms and legs. They don't want to do it because they don't want to push some papers around. They already gave her a death sentence.

My sister is going to ask the doctor tomorrow to see if he can put a request in. I just don't understand why they keep deflecting or making excuses to not full fill the request.

It's not a huge ask. We'll sign a stupid waiver if we have to. It's not like we want to drive her out somewhere. It's the stupid hospital atrium literally an elevator ride down. None of this has been in our favor since her hospitalization since February can we end it on a good note and let her outside for a moment?

They gave her a death sentence because they can't figure out why the fluid keeps building up in her lungs so they don't want to treat her anymore but NOW they're worried about her condition?!?

What legal liability do they have if shes DYING! AhhhHHh!

Edit: So quick update if therapy gives the go ahead the doctor will advocate and by tomorrow let us know if we can access the atrium. This has been a stressful process just to let someone outside. There were countless times they had to restrain my mom. If they really want people to get better they should incorporate some empathy methods like the atrium as therapy so people don't feel like prisoners. I understand there's rehab or nursing facilities but they're not gonna "ok" that unless she's better in the hospital first so it feels a bit regressive.

Mom is no longer being tested on but now focusing on comfort care in the hospital...

My mom (73) was recently diagnosed with vascular dementia in the frontal lobe. It was an extremely sudden decline. She was paying bills over the phone to full blown in the hospital a month later. She's been in and out of the ICU and "the floor" for four months bed ridden. She was originally hospitalized because she was severely malnourished, loss of appetite, and severe muscle atrophy due to using Mounjaro for three years. She had to be assisted to get out of bed and bathroom. She kept fainting.

At the ER they found out she had acute decompensated heart failure and acute kidney damage which she ended up recovering from but unfortunately she was already so weak from her GLP-1 usage she became completely bed bound and too weak to cough or eat with out life support. She's alive still because of the PEG tube in her stomach.

She is also suffering from chronic plural effusion in her lungs even though all her organs are fine now. Her fluid is also fine but it's just a lot of it. The doctors can't figure out why she keeps getting fluid in her lungs. Her heart is fine, her kidneys are fine. She doesn't have cancer.

She suffered a heart attack last week Thursday and they spent ten minutes giving her CPR due to mucus plugs. She advocated for herself for DNR and no tracheotomy the day after. Doctors are giving her about a week or so. She's silently aspirating on her saliva which will probably turn into mucus plugs or pneumonia and cause another heart attack like last week.

I was hoping to get her outside in the hospital atrium if she makes it to Saturday because it's suppose to be in the 80's and sunny. She's been stuck in the hospital since February and I just want her feel the warm sun and air one last time but the hospital staff doesn't think that'll be possible since she's completely bed bound and can't sit upright in a wheel chair.

I already did say my goodbyes to her so any extra time she's around is a bonus. I'm just grateful I had the opportunity to say good bye since not everyone does. We never ate as a family together except during holidays or events so I'm planning to make some food so we can all eat together in her room.

Had to reshape the hair so it'll fit around all the collar shapes on the body so hopefully it'll be ok now...
