SHAME on ACS superintendent Maggie Fehrman & school board members Sarah Thornburg, Rebecca Steiner, & Jesse Warren!!

What kind of horrible people you have to be to cut the arts, ignore vast community input, & do such a disservice to students by cutting a program that already was getting hardly any funding or support.

Between the form letters & individual emails, they received well over 2K+ individual responses from our community about what opportunities we require for our children & how students want & deserve this opportunity
- and Fehrman told these kids, yet again, to go fk themselves.

She's a stain on our community, and has consistently done massive disservices to our children (especially the BIPOC ones) - and I hope her time in this city is immeasurably shortened, as I have yet to see her make one fair, decent, & intelligent decision.
(Who else remembers the incredibly foolish & idiotic waste of time and money when she was trying to drill crazy wells on school campuses after Helene instead of focusing on getting our kids the support they needed?)

I hope karma is swift, harsh, and tenfold upon Maggie Fehrman, Sarah Thornburg, Rebecca Steiner, & Jesse Warren - SHAME on them - they are nothing less than villains!

Call to action- please help save city schools orchestra program

Tomorrow the school board has to adopt what Superintendent Maggie Fehrman has already solely determined - that they are cutting the orchestra program.
If you have literally 30 seconds, that’s all it takes to send a pre-scripted letter in an the attempt to flood the board’s mailboxes before their 5pm meeting calling for them to reconsider this hasty & foolish decision:

https://actionnetwork.org/letters/tell-acs-leadership-save-our-school-orchestra?source=direct\_link

Fehrman claims the program needs to be cut because there isn’t enough student interest, but honestly thats total & complete BS. My kid was enrolled in the program for several years, & the biggest issue with the program the entire time was the administration that starved the it of adequate funding & support after COVID.

What’s absolutely infuriating is that last fall they waited until a week before school started before officially announcing it had been cut from the HS, after the previous spring when dozens of orchestra students heavily protested & petitioned proposed educational budget cuts that were threatening the program. Ultimately these activated students were successful in stopping the cuts, only to have their program cut anyway. Now the board is attempting to permanently kill the orchestra program at all city schools forever.

Let it be known that Maggie Fehrman & any board members who votes for this measure are absolute disgraces to our shared community values, & to their role in representing what’s best for students.

( The AVL Watchdog also just released a piece pointing out many of Fehrman’s other controversial shortcomings: https://avlwatchdog.org/controversy-is-a-constant-at-asheville-schools-now-so-is-the-superintendent/ )

Thank you for your help in this matter, it is greatly appreciated it!

Long shot but please be on the lookout if you find a bag full personal history tossed aside

A patron at the library recently had his car in West Asheville broken into & his bag with his life’s collection of personal history was stolen.
Obviously it’s of no value whatsoever to whomever took it, but it’s priceless & potentially irreplaceable to the patron.

If anyone happens across a discarded red & blue bag full of personal papers & historical photos please turn it in to Pack Library / Special Collections, no questions asked.
Thanks y’all.

Easiest possible way to get your passport - Thurs at Biltmore Park

Literally took me all of 10m tops, and the turn around is only two weeks.
You can walk in anytime Thursday between 9am-4pm at 28 Schenck Parkway, Unit 102 - Super helpful & easy staff to work with, they can make copies of your original documents there & you can pay with card.
