I was listening to the latest show and it reminds me again how stupid they’ve gotten when it comes to anything political. They were talking about the Christa Pike incident and it’s clear they have zero foundational understanding of criminology or the reasonings for why punishment exists in the justice system.

They say dumb shit like “Society says killing is bad and so we kill them for it hur dur” but that argument is completely ignorant of the role of context. Killing an innocent person is not the same as killing a murderer. You can still argue that killing a murderer is wrong, but you can’t do so on the basis of hypocrisy since the reason why the two situations aren’t morally equivalent is due to extreme differences in context and conduct.

On top of this TJ and Paul were saying some dumb bullshit about how justice is supposed to be dispassionate and so therefore the horribleness of the crime is unimportant. which means they don’t understand the meaning of dispassionate justice. Dispassionate justice means that a judge and jury should do their best not to allow emotional bias to impact their rulings. It doesn’t mean that you don’t consider the magnitude and impact of the crime when deciding a fair punishment.

They talked about with their chat how life in prison can be considered more awful because death is an end whereas life in prison would mean they have to live out their sentence. This makes no logical sense because if life in prison was worse then why would death row inmates be trying to appeal for life in prison instead of the death penalty? If life in prison was worse they wouldn’t try to get out of the death penalty. It’s a stupid argument.

I’m not even completely opposed to arguments against the death penalty but the DFF guys were really dumb on this one. Real dumb.

The guys are pathetic we all know that but at this point I’ve just been listening to DFF to be entertained rather than because I actually respect them as people.

But the show is just a husk of its former glory at this point. Luckily for them they have new monetization options that help them suck up more money from the remaining suckers, but if you look at the quality of the show it’s in the gutter.

Low energy.

Feels like they barely wanna be there.

Shorter shows.

Half assed preparation.

Technical difficulties out the ass.

I still go back and watch the old content and it’s just a night and day difference in the energy, enthusiasm, and effort.

They need to stop doing the show. It’s clear that at least Paul and TJ are tired of it.

I don’t know what after the show looks like for them but there has to be something else they can do to sustain their lifestyle.

And I know you’re reading Paul so hello.

For those of you who don’t just clock in and clock out (of which I know there are many of you so don’t feel the need to virtue signal, you’re acknowledged) how far out are you looking in terms of learning new material?

Do you optimize for what will be most useful right now, 1 year out, 3 years out, 10 years out? I find myself wondering if I should really be keeping up with the latest ai tools being put out since they become replaced/ old news so quickly. But something that has better long term staying power, like learning operating systems, or mid term staying power (like learning a new language) don’t provide immediate benefits.

So I keep wondering to myself, with the limited time I do have to learn more things, how far out should I be looking to optimize for?
