LEEP Experience (in office)

I just had my LEEP yesterday after an ACSUS/HPV+ pap in June of 2025, followed by a colposcopy in April 2026 6 weeks after I gave birth to my second child. My colposcopy showed CIN 3 in two places, which was a huge surprise for both me and the doctor given that my pap was only ACSUS. I had my LEEP about 5 weeks later.

I took lorazepam and Tylenol 1hr before the procedure. The procedure itself was very short (about 5-10 minutes), and the only part that was difficult was the lidocaine/epinephrine injection because it made my heart race for about a minute or two, which was uncomfortable. Other than that it was completely painless and I had barely any cramping.

I did have some significant bleeding immediately afterwards that tapered off over the next 6 hours, but I was in communication with my doctor’s office during that time because the bleeding was somewhat heavy.

Today I just have watery, brownish discharge. I’m not crampy at all and basically feel totally normal, so I have to keep reminding myself not to do my normal level of activity!

Now I just have to endure the nerve-wracking wait for results…
