Has anyone gotten their visa in Hong Kong, as a USA tourist?
What was the application time line, especially if recent, and what was the fastest turn around time for the physical passport that you recall?

Has anyone seen this be possible?
And if so, how fast? I need to travel to Shanghai before I am would be able to get my passport back, and will need to use the TWOV method- very annoying as it's a 30 day trip.
However, it is likely that my online application will be approved while I am in China, and I will merely be missing the physical visa page from the consulate.
I saw others say they were able to get a visa as a tourist before, countries unclear, for a US citizen with a pre-approved application? Could it potentially be physically stamped at any consulate or THE COVA in the HK?
And is there any chance of a same day expedited passport pickup and drop off (since the whole application was already approved)?
(My understanding is even approved, this can't be provided within Shanghai/mainland China.)
