Shoutout to Porter for the plebeian “pay-to-board” experience
Just want to thank Porter Airlines for the truly premium touch of making me check in at the airport, in person, with a human, so I could have the privilege of paying for my carry-on at the counter like it's 2006 and stealing 30 minutes of my life.
I know what you're thinking — "couldn't they just charge that online like every other airline on earth?" And yes. Yes they could. But where's the romance in that? Where's the line? Where's the gate agent reciting "policy" like a hostage statement while 40 people behind me silently calculate whether they'll make their connection?
Truly nothing says "regional luxury carrier" like a fare that looks competitive right up until the moment you discover the real price is revealed live, on location, for one night only.
Anyway. Loved the surprise. Loved the suspense. The bag is now $75 richer in character. 10/10 would be ambushed again.
