As the title says, my baby struggles to independently play for long stretches. I know he’s only 5 months old, but after about 15–20 minutes on the mat, he wants to be carried.

I’ve noticed that once he fusses, my nanny is very quick to pick him up rather than trying to re-engage him through play or activities. I completely understand that carrying him is the easier option, but I also don’t want him getting too used to constantly being held and needing that all the time.

What were your babies doing around the 5-month mark in terms of toys, sensory play, developmental activities, tummy time, etc.? Any hacks that helped keep them engaged for a little longer independently?

I’m also going back to work soon, so I want to make sure he’s actively engaged during the day and not just being carried around most of the time.

Would love to hear what worked for you all!

Ps. Any toys that worked well
