I’ve been taking voice lessons weekly (minus summer break) 2.5 years now and I’ve worked on musical theatre, r&b, classical, spiritual, and gospel. I’m a tenor with a range from Eb2-E5. I have decent breath support and good tone consistency. My vibrato is inconsistent since i couldn’t do it on command until 2 months ago but it’s better. My transitions between registers are good but could be better since i have a weaker falsetto/head voice after C5/C#5 but overall it isn’t weak i think since when I warm up i can comfortably sing up to Eb5 but I encounter problems around E5/F5 and top out at F#5. Both the bottoms and the top of my range need work. My music literacy skills are good i’d say. I can read well and sight sing good. I have a basic understanding of theory and I can play piano a little and i’m fast at learning between reading and by ear. My language skills aren’t the worst. I’ve sung in italian, spanish, latin, and french but nothing in german. I’ve been singing in choir and doing musicals for 4 years now. I’ve been singing in church for 5 years now. I’ll be a junior communications major in the fall and since i’ve always been more interested in film/theatre than music. My goal isn’t to be the best tenor or anything just to refine my voice and learn more about music and piano. I’m not sure if a masters degree is what i’m looking for or what route to take to continue learning about music while still writing and film.

Can I get a masters in voice or anything music without having a undergrad degree related to music? I don’t have a lot of music experience outside of the 4 years i’ve been in choir and musicals. I’ve took voice lessons and an intro to music theory class. I’ve been told by my voice teachers that i have good musical skills like sight reading and intonation. I want to learn more about music and my voice but I haven’t taken many classes.
