is there any real advantages installing linux server over linux with a DE?
So I had this idea to use a macbook air m1 with a broken screen as a server to run a few apps, which are:
- Jellyfin with DUMB using this tutorial
- a network wide adblocker (i don't know how to do that yet but I'll find a way)
- Nextcloud, maybe to store photos and some documents
- maybe a VPN, might be useful someday
SO my questions are :
When installing linux asahi on my macbook I am prensented with these few options:
- Fedora with GNOME / KDE
- Fedora server
- Fedora minimal
- Which ones seem to be the most adapted to my use case?
- will I be able to manage the server using another device? my main preoccupation is that with a broken screen and a minimal GUI, connecting to a external screen might be difficult at first.
- Should I wipe Macos all together. I dont really need it anymore, would 70GB of space allocated to linux suffice?
- Is this a good idea? Using a MBA M1 as a server seemed to be a good idea to me, given the minimal power consumption, and in the tutorial above they mention that :

- any recommendation? I am not exactly new to linux because I used to use Linux as a my main desktop as my computer wasn't deemed worthy by microsoft to update to Windows 11, but I am definitely new to this kind of project, so any insight is welcomed and appreciated.
Oh and PS: sorry for bad english
