Here’s how to refund/cancel a **wrong transaction on PhonePe** (most cases depend on whether the money has reached the other person).
## 1) First check the status in PhonePe
Open **PhonePe**
Go to **History** (or **Transactions**)
Open the **wrong transaction**
Look for options like **“Cancel”**, **“Refund”**, or the payment status (e.g., *Success/Pending*).
### If you see **Cancel/Refund**
- Tap **Cancel** / **Request Refund** and follow the on-screen steps.
## 2) If it already shows **Successful** (sent to the other user)
Usually you can’t “cancel” a completed UPI transfer yourself in-app. Try this order:
**Contact the recipient**
- PhonePe refunds typically require the receiver’s acceptance or a supported refund flow.
In PhonePe, go to **Help/Support**
Search for **“UPI refund”** / **“Wrong transaction”**
Raise a **request for refund** from the **transaction ID** (if PhonePe provides that option).
## 3) If the amount is **pending** or failed
- If it’s **Pending**, wait and re-check—UPI reversals often happen automatically after some time.
- If it **Failed**, the money is typically reversed back to your account automatically (timing varies).
## 4) Use the transaction details needed for support
Keep these ready:
- **Transaction ID**
- **Date/time**
- **Amount**
- **Recipient UPI ID / phone number**
- **Your bank/account last 4 digits** (if asked)
## 5) When you should involve your bank / UPI support
If PhonePe support doesn’t resolve it, you may need to file a complaint through your **bank’s UPI grievance** route, especially if the payment is marked **successful** but you didn’t intend for it to go through.

### Quick questions (so I can tell you the exact steps)
Was the transaction **UPI** and does it show **Success** or **Pending/Failed**?
Did you send it to a **person/UPI ID**, or was it for **a merchant/payment**?
Do you see **“Cancel/Refund”** inside that transaction’s details screen?
