I lost over $20,000 at the casino in 2 years. One month clean. Here's what finally worked for me.

I'm not a typical gambling addict. I could go months without thinking about a casino. But the moment I walked through those doors, everything changed.

Since 2012 I've been a binge gambler. Free poker tournaments as a broke student, then roulette, then blackjack. I lost my scooter money in one night. I lost bonuses. Last year I lost money my father left me — the same year I lost him.

After that I hit the lowest point of my life. The only thing that kept me going was my mother and the responsibility I felt toward her.

What finally made the difference wasn't willpower. It was understanding that I didn't need to control myself inside the casino. I just needed to never walk through that door again.

Three months in. Taking it one day at a time.

Anyone else recognize this pattern — months clean, then one session destroys everything?
