Xfinity engaged in shady business practices
There was a service outage in my neighborhood where I was connected to my wifi, but couldn't go online. This continued even after service was restored. Called customer service and was told a technician would be sent and my modem would probably need to be replaced. In the meantime, they inform me that my promotion had expired and they were charging me more for a slightly faster speed.
Technician comes and says we need to buy a modem or rent one from Xfinity for $15 a month, and he had to charge $100 for the visit. The customer service agent I spoke to failed to mention any of this.
These strike me as ethically dubious business practices because I'm being charged extra for something I didn't even ask for and wasn't my fault. It seems they're trying to upcharge customers under the guise of "service improvement." I am on the verge of canceling and calling customer service.
