Leaking coolant and overheating
When I got the car the dealership told me the water pump was due, behind my first GTI I believed them and didn’t check so I bought the bremmen kit from ECS tuning and put it on. After this I started having leaks and having to refill every week or so I didn’t pay them too much attention.. my worst mistake. Come yesterday and my car is overheating coming out of work so I pull off to the side and check it out, I see that everything looks the same and I don’t have my tools so I call a mobile mechanic to come check it out. He takes everything apart and hoses don’t look broken or ripped but the water pump was slightly crooked not making a flush seal to the block, so he straightens it out and puts everything back together. I start it up and everything is running fine, I go about my way and couple minutes later overheating again. I pull over again and I can now hear what sounds like coolant leaking out of a hose. I didn’t see it to confirm it but I did see a hose that was wet when we took it out so I know what hose it is. I also got the code P1889. The water pump turns on and the thermostat housing is not cracked.
Please Reddit mechanics and VW Gods help me figure this out.
