casting off purlwise/knitwise and then starting the next row with a new line of yarn

This is the first project I’ve knit that’s not a hat and I have no idea how I’m supposed to do this. The part of the pattern that I’m at says to castoff the purl row and continue with knit, but doing that means I‘d have to cut the yarn and and start the next row on a whole separate string an so on until the piece is finished.

Basically, is there anyway to cast off and continue the row without cutting the yarn?? (also pls lmk if I’m just reading it wrong)
