Found this to be especially topical to current events surrounding art, perversions and the creators who make it possible.

For a writer, your debut work is nowhere near as hard to write as the ones that follow. When you're trying to make your debut, honestly, as long as you have luck and a bit of talent, things will just fall into place when you least expect it. Your second work is where the problems start. Now everyone's gonna be scrutinizing you, trying to decide if you're a pro who's just getting started, or a one-hit wonder who just got lucky. You don't get to bask in the limelight once and call it a success story. Your life is now an endless marathon, a battle for survival. Then it's time for your third work. Now that you've proven you can stay in this marathon, this is the point where you start to ask yourself̶why am I running in the first place? As advisor to Fuchii Kabura for sweet pool, I told her countless times, "Be true to your desires." Being an entertainer means satisfying the desires of your audience. But if you're a slave to those desires, then your work is only good for its craftsmanship̶fit only for a single night's consumption. In order to truly delight your audience, and have a lasting impact, you must draw out the urges that inform their desires. Being a creator means you must understand the psychology behind desire̶you must BECOME desire itself. If your work disregards the opinions of your audience completely, some people may disparage it as "masturbatory"̶but this is crucial to staying in the marathon. When you're running around in the dark, your desires are the only thing that light the way. Granted, it's possible for that light to grow too bright and blind you̶which is why moderation is key. Imagine your work is a bicycle: one wheel is Serving Others, and the other wheel is Serving Yourself. You need both, or else you're going nowhere fast. Thus, when I sensed that Fuchii Kabura was leaning a little too heavily towards the "Serving Others" side with her previous work, Lamento, I told her to switch gears for her third game̶and I'm highly satisfied with the results. As I hoped, Fuchii showed us all of the darkness she holds inside. Like the way she ended the scene where Tetsuo takes Youji's virginity: it's nuts! You're one scary woman, Kabura! Fuchii Kabura has shown that she has the drive and potential necessary to keep running in this marathon. Now that she's proven herself, I'd like her to take a nice long break to recharge before launching into plans for her next work. Going forward, my expectations could not be higher, and I look forward to seeing what she has in store for us next!
