I’m very happy with this piece designed by Cien! I asked to use the flowers representing the month of my dog’s birth and the month of her passing.
I just finished up this piece and it was a new challenge for me in a couple of ways! The design is based on a pattern by Jean Beaulieu and is a section of a much larger panel.
The original had a different type of butterfly but I really wanted Monarchs. So I traced the shape of the butterflies within the pattern and redrew them ! Drawing is not my strength so I studied some photos and spent a few days with a pencil and eraser😅.
It was also my first time trying out enamel paint to create the white marks on the butterflies. There’s always room for improvement but I am pretty happy with how it turned out.
