I have an older Olympus digicam that kept showing “Battery Empty,” so I bought rechargeable NiMH AA batteries since I read it would work better. (i have the olympus t-10)

At first, the lens extended but the screen stayed black. After a few tries, now it only shows “Battery Empty” again and won’t extend the lens anymore.

I also cleaned the battery contacts earlier.

I don’t have a charger yet, so the batteries are only running on whatever charge they came with. Could they just need a full charge, or does this sound like a camera issue?
