A Quick Fact About Lobsters
Lobsters are often called "biologically immortal" because, unlike most animals, they don't show typical signs of aging. They continue producing an enzyme called telomerase, which helps their cells keep dividing for much longer than usual.
Sounds like the secret to eternal life, right?
Not quite.
Even though lobsters age differently, they still die from disease, injuries, predators, and the enormous amount of energy required to keep growing and molting throughout their lives.
Unfortunately, eating lobster won't make humans live forever either. While lobster is a good source of protein, vitamins, and minerals, there is currently no food capable of stopping human aging.
A healthy diet can support a longer life. Immortality is still out of stock.
