Does anyone actually understand how uninsured motorist coverage works in Hawaii?
Had a minor accident recently and i started looking more closely on my auto policy. I realized I honestly don’t understand what happens if the other driver is uninsured or doesn’t have enough coverage for the damage/injuries.
I always assumed their insurance would handle everything if they were at fault, but apparently that isn’t always how it works.
For people who’ve dealt with this in Hawaii, is UM/UIM coverage something you’ve actually needed? Anything you wish you had checked on your policy beforehand?
