Any Indian collectors here ordered from 1-64specialist.com (Italy)? Need advice on a unique pre-order strategy.
Hey everyone,
I am a beginner 1:64 collector based in India. I want to get the upcoming Mini GT Porsche GT3 R #77 AO Racing Sebring Winner ("Rexy"). Local pre-orders are sold out here, and scalpers are pricing it over ₹3,000+.
I found it on the Italian site 1-64specialist.com for a fair base price of €18.90. Their shipping to India is a steep €35, but I am currently planning a move to France next year for my studies.
I emailed their support, and they sent a custom invoice allowing me to pay the base price now and use their Warehouse Parking Service to hold the car for free.
My Plan: Pay for the car now, keep it parked in Italy, and ship it to my student accommodation once I move to France next year. Shipping within the EU is only around €10 (or free if I spend €150 later), with zero customs duty.
The Risk: My move to France isn't 100% official yet. If my plans change, I will have to ship it to India, meaning I will have to pay the €35 fee plus Indian customs anyway.
Is this a good way of buying? I am looking for opinions from fellow collectors in India who have used this site before.
