Canada's New ONIP Changes Have Me Reconsidering My PhD Move, Anyone Else Feeling the Same?

Hi everyone, I’d love to get your thoughts on the news about the Master’s/PhD ONIP Stream being scrapped.

I was recently accepted to York University for a PhD in Epidemiology. However, because confidence in the Canadian education system so low right now, I am seriously considering staying here back at Erasmus University in the Netherlands instead of migrating to Canada.

It’s honestly shocking to see how Canada prioritizes short-term college diplomas over university degrees. In most other countries, short certifications aren't taken very seriously, but in Canada, community colleges seem to be the main focus these colleges don't even fall under any ranking system.

Is anyone else rethinking their plans in Canada because of this? I’d love to hear your opinions.
