Unsafe work environment
Alright so for context I work as a front desk clerk at a hotel . Now I work 3-11 pm and I check guest in . However we have almost 70 rooms in this hotel and it's just me at the desk. I work alone. No security and even at times no cameras because they just decide to stop working sometimes. We have a buzzer at the front if we lock the door however if the cameras are down I can't even see who's buzzing I just have to either go look or buzz them in. I'm a female I'm like 5'1 and small built. My other co worker who does this shift is even smaller. We also work alone..shes just the only other person who does afternoons .This will matter because it's literally just us. No security..no panic button... Just a phone to call emergency if we need to. If I lock the door and a guest that's already in the building decides to go out and someone else buzzes to get in that seems off to me by ignoring me over the intercom the guest that went out can let them in because the door slides open when a key is presented. Now for context again , I have been robbed there. We had no cameras, we had the lock however they buzzed and I still had like 6 arrivals so I figured he was one of them . He didn't seem off either his face wasn't covered when I seen him. He came around the desk held me at knife point and robbed us. Im not allowed to tell my coworker as she would quit my boss said. But I feel this is a giant safety risk for her. She doesn't know it happened and he could come back and do it again. I have a police report since I called 911. I'd like to add even after I was robbed they didn't put any extra precautions... Last night I worked and the cameras were down again. It's not even just about the being robbed at knife point. It's the fact that I get screamed at. Threatened to have people beat my ass and have people try to come at me because I can't check them in if they don't have what we need such as ID. If those people are drunk or just mentally unstable they come at me. It's happened a ton. I've had guys looking for escorts and being scammed online that get upset with me or refuse to leave. I've had escorts who check in and after a while a train of the seediest men start coming threw and buzzing all hours of the night or just standing in the door way or waiting in the lobby. It's just unsafe. I'm in Ontario does anyone know the legal ramifications if I report this to OSHA ?
