People keep making all these excuses about small player count or whatever. The problem is the game deliberately groups teams of lower skilled players to pit them against groups of higher skilled players. That's right, the game balances matches if you're at a disadvantage in a lobby by making your teammates worse. If this game had 100x the playerbase the result would be the exact same.
Nobody is this stupid. The rest of this game is brilliantly designed but I'm supposed to believe they turned off their brain and accidentally designed the worst matchmaking system ever conceived? This to me feels like outright malicious casino matchmaking aka eomm. Teams are clearly formed with the intent of farming and being farmed
I have zero faith in embark and the upcoming matchmaking rework. If they cared even a little bit they wouldn't have maintained this system the way it is for years. Literally a completely random system would offer higher quality matches than what is currently in the game.
Tl;dr The Finals doesn't have bad matchmaking because of low player count, it has low player count because of the matchmaking. This game is intolerable if you don't play in a 3 stack. Worst experience I've ever had in an fps game solo. Fun with friends.
