Do you think Part II would be better with player's choices?

I am wondering if TLOU Part II would maybe be less hated or controversial it the devs decided to add player's choices at certain points of the story. Yes, its not really Naughty Dog's thing but they risked a lot of new stuff in part 2 anyway. I think of Cyberpunk 2077 which has a lot of trauma and depressing vibes as well and has various endings with all having its flaws. But I always feel I can cope better with decision I had some kind of influence on. And still, the devs decide what options I have so its still in their hands to decide my possible options. What do you think?

Late to the party but here's my verdict.

So, I finally managed to play Part 2 for the first time ever. I just replayed part 1 right before. As I was home this week I finished part 2 in just 3 days which was probably not good for my mental health. Where to start. I think the whole cinematic, gameplay and world building are top shelf. I also like the idea of the second part focusing mainly on inter-human conflicts. But I'm still mad with Naughty Dog for several decisions they made. I won't even focus on Joel's death or the Abby playthrogh part. But what bothered me most was the fact that the farm felt like a fair ending. Abby decided to leave Dina and Ellie alive and they started all over. Tommy, who was believed dead, survived and when he showed up at the farm I instantly knew what was gonna happen. What I don't get: first he was against revenge, then he went on his own behalf, then he convinces Ellie to leave Seattle with Abby alive and then he shows up asking Ellie to finish it? The whole Cali part for me was just another act of violence. Even when Abby was cut lose and about to leave they added the last fight. It just felt like overstimulating violence at one point which unfortunately covered up a lot.of Ellies whole character. Which is the biggest issue I have. I see that she has PTBS and is full.or grief and rage but I feel the devs made her very one-dimensional. I feel like they didn't care about their own main character enough in the end. Plus, the big gap between her part and the finale adds to this distance that's created between the player and Ellie. And I think that's by far the biggest let down. We all know she ain't perfect but in part 2 violence nearly overshadowed all her character nuances which just fells unfair for just a greatly designed character in the first place. I had various endings in mind but the one I got just felt very unrewarding after so much dilemma and especially the blown up length compared to part 1.
