Recently on EVE discord and here in the Goonswarms public forum (aka Reddit) i saw again some posts regarding the ansiblex network in nullsec. Same old notes again, describing how unfair it is towards lowsec bros to use the ansiblexes to defend the region, prevent them from ganking Ishtars, and how much is their god-given right to kill Rorquals taken away from them by those mean and nasty ansiblexes.

While reading it, one image came to my mind: the image of Saint of Climate Change asking, HOW DARE YOU???

To be fair towards the Gretas of EVE, the ansiblexes can be used to defend the space, but in my view, it is more like utility an tool, mostly used for convenience of those who live in null. In 95% of cases it is not a power projection tool, it is simply for time saving. Moving ratting ships, mining barges, traveling to escalations, shuttling to set up reactions, moving modules/ore for reprocessing, move stuff from planetary industry. Those actions would be done with or without the ansiblexes, but with them, it saves a considerable amounth of time during a day.

For the above-mentioned reasons my position is biased, i like to use the ansiblexes, it makes a lot of sense for me to use them on a daily basis. It helps a lot to lower the tedium around industry. Everybody who built anything larger then a battleship understands it. It seems that the lowsec bros do not have the same perspective, either they don´t know why they are used, or they only see when a fleet arrives before them and kills them on a gate, the same way as they wanted to kill others. HOW DARE YOU???

To adress the power projection argument, the ansiblexes are used only for small fleets of frigates and destroyers, mostly ad hoc home defense parties where you go to have fun. Anything that is an alliance-level fleet, like Strat ops and CTAs are bridged in by titans. If a senior FC is going to fight something, the first question is allways: "Who has a titan on the keepstar?" If the fight is happening far away, we either seed ships on contracts days before, or we have spare ships there and just shuttle to the location. Without the ansiblexes we would only have more ships spread around and use them on location instead of from a central location. For the above-mentioned reasons, the ansiblexes are in my opinion, not a power projection tool. They are a time-sawing utility that is helpful for traveling.
