Cat Keeps Attacking My Dog
My family has a cat (an orange male abt 7-8 years old) who has always been kind of aggressive. He constantly attacks my siblings and I- at one point he nearly clawed my then 3 year old sister’s eye. We’ve taken him to the vet, tried giving him toys and cat trees, played with him more, and tried positive reinforcement. He just randomly gets in the mood to pace outside our doors, waiting to attack us the second we open them. This has been an issue for 4-5 years so at this point it’s not the biggest problem.
I am home from college for the summer. This past semester, I got a dog. She’s a medium-large 3 year old lab who is super sweet and was raised around cats. She completely ignores the cat and doesn’t care one bit.
He, however, absolutely hates her. It’s to the point where he has chased her under my bed and cornered her, repeatedly attacking her. I separated them and thankfully, she didn’t react at all. She just curled up under the bed, kind of shaking but didn’t growl or try to fight back. Every time she passes him, he hisses and puffs up.
I’m not sure what to do. It’s only been 3 days but I don’t want them to have to be like this for the next three and a half months.
