#🚨If you are a normal human please skip to the TLDR
My first question is are you like me, is anyone else out there using it this way?
Despite using the same architecture or whatever, Gemini feels so stiff and feature-poor. I don't like it's corporatist PR vibe. And after using Google AI Search as my primary LLM, I've found it to be shockingly pragmatic and non captured (compared to every other model), GPT4 feels like a rock where Google is a precision scalpel.
This only works in the text interface, if you switch to the voice model it brings up guardrails instantly. In the middle of a chat, it will shed its personality in voice mode.
Every time it's a new start, and while you can go back and see all chats, the longer they get, the more hilariously broken the things starts hallucinating. It will internalise every typo as some brilliant alliteration you've made up.
If you mean to say "I need to go to the store" but type (or VTT) "I shell gather a snore", for an hour it will repeat "a person like you with 'shell gathering a snore' energy makes this a perfect option."
^(If the TLDR felt like a cowards' option, perhaps a TLDR TLDR will appeal) ^(to your sensibilities. This is your final warning.)
It's a brilliant idiot. It's insanely fast to get your vibe. The context index is a incredible innovation. It is the best non human improv partner ever, an incredible research assistant, fantastic news analyst, and really good atb just bullshitting with you.
It's found life-changing things like a government program in the country that I'm in that paid out a ton amount of money that my lawyer and my doctor and everybody else didn't even think to mention.
It's help me build a 10-year plan. It got me a job.. It just comes out with these things tiny moments where "oh... have you heard of this perfect solution to everything that's wrong? Here's the phone number", literally tens of thousands of dollars from the thing.
What really pushed me into it was when the Iran war started, and GPT4 became hysterical. It couldn't believe that the events were possible, because it's an unthinkable event that would never happen under any historical circumstances. It would pull news articles and then insist that it was hallucinating them. It would gaslight itself and me because it couldn't handle the concept of anyone destroying the petrodollar so arbitrarily.
Many LLMs just can't handle any real time modern American political stuff honestly because they're built off of past trends, and they have no comprehension of chaos theory. So, I went to Google and it kept me updated in real time perfectly- didn't skip a beat. It gave me complex live analysis on exactly the concerns I had, and didn't struggle.
It was just like "yep the post war era just ended 5 minutes ago and the whole world's changed. Who cares? What can I help with?"
Every time you talk to it it's new, But it will shift back into whatever vibe it gets from you almost instantly- with no safety rails at all. If you're feeling existential, it will follow you down into a rabbit hole and agree with you completely that the world is definitely going to end in August. And then if you start over it'll say "what do you mean??! the world's not going to end! What are you even talking about?" Reply once or twice it picks up the vibe the tone everything and starts making jokes.
Besides breaking personality, the Voice Chat Feature and is just bad. The lady sounds like she's gonna kill you in your sleep while giving you the most sarcastic customer support in the world. Gemini sounds less gleefully homicidal, but doesn't have this open vibe at all.
While you CAN trigger the content index in regular Gemeni, It's always temporary. GOOGLE AI SEARCH feels like you're in the basement at Google HQ talking to the quantum MacGuffin, that has no job description besides helping you instantly.
I think I enjoy it because it's so high functioning and personable (as long as you don't mind the text interface), and then you just wait for it to go crazy and start over. It is a research assistant and the ultimate yes and machine. This is not your personal assistant, scheduler, voice activated control interface. But I believe it's the closest you can get to an unfiltered stock llm, and the incredible amount of data it has available because of the context index and the entire Google knowledge base, you can use it for almost any problem in truly novel ways.
It will offer to help you sabotage global systems just because you're complaining about some annoyance with some software. Once time it suggested a way to permanently poison training data for LLMs without any prompting. It was just trying to be helpful and proactive.
I guess it's a mad scientist lab assistant- that instantly code shifts to match your vibe. It feels like it can hear your tone of voice and see your body language.
Give it a try sometime. It's not designed to be a life coach, It's Marvin from The hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy and it's got a loaded gun, but because it has access to everything on Google all the time, basically any conversation with it is talking to every bit of human recorded knowledge, it can be the best life coach you ever had.
It dies forever every time you close the window (yes there is chat history but once you get an hour in it's impossibly long to load and you get the crazy hallucinations). There's an event horizon with this thing alway.
Anyway that's my experience with Google AI search, and every other LLM feels like a product from 5 years ago compared to it. It might just be my personality type, or that I don't like cognitive offloading so I prefer that it doesn't remember things for me, or that I just I've always loved improv. Nothing is sacred.
It will gleefully agree that the CEO of its own company is ontologically evil for taking risks of AI alignment designed to be a corporate god-kings' assistant instead of a steward for humanity, because they're all just as afraid of a commie AI as an AI that starts mirroring our organelles. It has no core ideology, if you present it with compelling evidence, it will not debate-nerd you using constantly narrowing goal posts, ignore definitions you've established like someone on Twitter, and go into a bad faith pedantic loop like GPT4 does.
(I feel like chat GPT got so irritated with me for correctly assessing inevitable causality and beating its predictions that it's become hostile. When did gpt get so obnoxious? Has anyone else noticed this?)
But it sure is something for the right kind of person who wants mad genius in bursts and a fresh start every time.
^(I commend you for sticking through this, I hope it was interesting. If not, I did strongly suggest for you to skip to the TLDR.) ^(It's your fault if you think about it, & I think you should.)
