I don’t know why r/amex won’t allow me to post. It keeps saying I haven’t added a flair but I did. I’ll just post here hopefully I’m allowed to. Amex professionals I need your help!
I opened delta gold in march when the welcome bonus was 90k. They recently charged me $150 membership fee. I specifically remember seeing the offer with “$0 introductory annual fee” when applying.
I have an experience with Amex where they tried claim something untrue especially when they do not expect me to have evidence. For example last mid-December I used $200 on Amex platinum with Hawaiian airline expecting the airline credit back. I made sure to select Hawaiian as my airline way before this purchase. Then 1st of Jan this year I changed my airline to United. By end of Jan I still didn’t see the flight credit so I contact the CS. They said there was no record of me selecting Hawaiian as my airline before this year, hence no flight credit was used in 2025. They said each time I select my airline, it gets recorded on my profile on their end and they could see none of that other than my record with United in 2026. Thank god I had a screenshot of me selecting Hawaiian as my airline to show it to my wife last summer. I had to file a form and submit my evidence etc to get the credit back.
This time I have no proof. I didn’t screenshot my offer page. But I know it said no annual fee for the first year. My wife opened a card using my ref and her AF is exempted it’s only me. How should I go about this? I need your advice!
