Second baby room setup with a toddler — what actually worked in your house? + safe daytime spots for baby?

Hi all,

Trying to work out room setups for baby #2 with a toddler (~2yo) already at home.

We have:

  • one bedroom right next to ours
  • another bedroom on the other side of the house (~5–7m away)

Initially thought newborn would get the closer room, but now wondering if it actually makes more sense for the toddler to stay there and put the newborn in the further room with the overnight feeding setup (kettle, formula, mini fridge etc).

My thinking is:

  • toddler sleep might be harder to recover once disrupted
  • overnight feeds already involve noise/lights anyway
  • if baby is already awake crying, maybe making bottles in that room matters less than potentially waking the toddler

But did anyone feel anxious having the newborn not right next door?

Would love to know:

  • who got the room closest to you in your house — toddler or newborn?
  • anything you’d do differently?

Also during the day… where do people safely put the second baby away from an enthusiastic toddler? 😅
For tummy time/floor play/general existing:

  • playpen?
  • babywearing?
  • separate room?
  • just supervision?

Would love practical real-life setups!

Anyone have the Tavolo II Convertible Learning Tower? Is the table/chair mode actually sturdy + best sale time?

Has anyone here used the Tavolo II Convertible Learning Tower from My Happy Helpers?

I’m pretty close to buying one because I like the idea of the tower converting into a little table/chair setup instead of needing separate furniture.

A couple of questions for anyone who owns it:

  • Does it actually feel sturdy/stable when converted into the table + chair mode?
  • Do your toddlers genuinely use the table setup or does it end up mostly staying as a tower?
  • Any wobbling/issues over time?

Also for Australian parents who’ve bought from them before — historically when’s the best sale period? EOFY? Black Friday? Boxing Day? Random sales throughout the year?

I noticed they seem to be an NDIS registered provider too, so I wasn’t sure if that means they don’t really do major sales/discounts compared to other baby/kids brands? Or do they still run decent promos during the big sale periods?

Trying to decide whether to buy now or wait a bit 😅

Toniebox vs Yoto for a 15 month old: Worth getting Yoto early for longevity?

Hi everyone,

Trying to decide between a Toniebox and a Yoto for my 15 month old and would love some real-life experiences.

I know the Yoto is generally aimed at slightly older kids (3+) and a lot of people seem to say Toniebox is easier/more intuitive for younger toddlers. But I’m also thinking about longevity and don’t really want to buy something that gets outgrown quickly.

For those who started with a Yoto around 15–18 months:

  • Did your toddler actually engage with it that young?
  • Was it frustrating needing more parent help?
  • Did it “grow with them” enough to make it worth it long term?

And for Toniebox families:

  • Did your child eventually outgrow it?
  • Or are older toddlers/preschoolers still using it regularly?

Would especially love to hear from people who’ve used both. I keep seeing the same theme online that Tonie is better for younger toddlers but Yoto has more longevity.

EDIT: Also would especially love to hear from Australian families — mainly around content availability, accents/audio your kids engaged with, shipping/cards, and whether one felt easier to use here.

Thanks!

I am tossing between whether to get a learning tower that can be converted into a table and chair set vs with a stool vs foldable so it can double up as a ladder for adults. We dont mind investing in children's furniture and also want to explore which option that can allow us to get the most use out of the learning tower. The table/chair set is appealing but we are mindful we wont be able to adjust table height as the children grow. What do people do with children's learning tower once they outgrow them? TIA.
