Why you want to be a nurse?

I was recently dismissed from a RN program because of a class failure, then I applied ABSN program, got accepted by one of them, tuition is too expensive, so I rejected the offer. Now I’m asking myself do I still want to be a nurse? I’m clear that I didn’t like to wipe patients’ poops, do urine catheter for male patients (sorry, don’t judge me), but I did feel rewarding after seeing patients recover. I am more interested in doing legal or forensic nurse, and maybe get PMHNP later to help people solve not only mental but social problems. What is your reason to be a nurse?

How your school teach Fundamental of Nursing?

Hello everyone,

I was recently failed Fundamental of Nursing and dismissed by the program. While I examined my way of study, I also would like to know how your school teaches this class. This class has lecture, lab, and clinical. The way our professor teaches us is flip through the textbook page by page. We are expected to know everything on this book. I didn’t have time to make notes, which now I know is absolutely wrong. I only read and reread at the time. I’m curious how your school teaches about this class and any study tips is helpful! Thanks in advance!

ABSN program suggestions for my current stats

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for advice on ABSN programs that may be realistic for my current stats and situation.

My background:

  • Undergraduate GPA: 2.98
  • Prerequisite GPA: 3.7
  • Previously admitted to a community college nursing program
  • Dismissed after failing Fundamentals of Nursing on the first attempt
  • Based in NYC, but I’m open to moving out of state if the program is good and financially reasonable
  • I’m especially interested in programs with a first-time NCLEX pass rate above 90%

I know my stats are not competitive enough, but it is what it is. I’m not looking for an “easy” program. I want a program that is fair, organized, supportive, and has strong NCLEX outcomes. Any suggestions will be helpful. Thanks in advance!

Edit: if NCLEX rate is not all important, I want to find a program that looks my application holistically, is organized and supportive.
