Roommates want me to pay them for chores

I (21F) live with two high school friends in our college apartment. We lived together in the dorms without issues, so we moved in together sophomore year. Once settled, we made a roommate agreement, including a chore chart on a whiteboard. At first it seemed reasonable: three chore groups rotated weekly.

Then they added a strict rule that chores must be done by Sunday at 11:59 PM, with a $1-per-day late fee. This immediately felt targeted because I’m the only one who regularly goes home on weekends. I still did my chores every Monday when I got back, so they were always done weekly, just not by their exact deadline.

Before junior year, they changed the rule again: instead of $1 per day, it became $1 for the first late day, $2 for the second, $3 for the third, etc. This felt even more directed at me, and of course I’m the only one who ever owes money. I paid about $20 the first year and now they say I owe another $40.

I’m moving out at the end of the summer, and I want to tell them I’m not paying the remaining $20 because these rules are unreasonable and I’ve never had a real say—it's always two against one. How do I say that without blowing everything up?
