Pending Review from USCIS -- DHS regarding SSN
We applied for the SSN for our 2 months old at one of the SSA office in MA. We provide all the documents they asked us for, for context: we had a home birth but the mom did all the prenatal visits and we hired a mid-wife for the delivery. The mid-wife gave us all the papers needed and we got his birth certificate in MA. During at visit at the SSA office, they said we should receive the SSN card in 4 weeks. We waited for 5 weeks and then went back to the SSA to know why we did not receive the SSN. We were told that during one of the checks from DHS the program flagged the birth certificate as 'suspect' and there is nothing SSA can do to help us, we have to wait. Has anyone experienced this before? how do we handle this? We have now waited for 6 weeks and still nothing. Any ideas will be helpful. Sorry for the long text.
