Summary: You are only fully protected on ebay purchases in the UK if you pay by credit card, debit card less protection, paypal no protection, klarna have to wait months (unsure if protected)
If you buy on ebay and something goes wrong expect to not get the money back for months.
Hi All,
New scam I paid £1036 for a Gold Bar 9th April 2026, empty box was sent (nothing new there) seller offered me a £1000 refund (catch is he keeps £36 for an empty box)
I now regrettingly now declined this refund, trusting in ebay refund was offered on 10th April 2026, for 3-4 weeks they said we will refund you on this date (ebay) we will refund you on this date, they then told me to file an action fraud report which I did, then they deleted my account.
I rung and spoke to them and they said they have decided I am not covered by the ebay money back guarantee (which is a guarantee at their discretion) despite saying I am in writing multiple times.
The scammer is still scamming people, they even removed my negative warning people, ebay don't care.
I paid with Klarna as well so it's in their hands atleast they only have £345.60 of my money the rest is on Klarna paused, Klarna have took 6 weeks for any update.
Other ebay lies which why are they allowed to false advertise?
"It's free to sell on ebay" they don't tell you there is an annual allowance once exceeded it is not free
Their TV adverts show you can sell old stuff you don't need like a vase or toaster, on request ebay can demand proof of postage which you definitely won't have for most things and if you cannot provide it you do not get paid.
