I sold an iPhone on eBay UK and recorded a full video of myself packing it before shipping. Tracking confirmed delivery, but the buyer claimed the box was empty.

eBay originally decided the case in my favour with no refund.

However, the buyer then opened a chargeback through their bank and won. Now eBay says they'll take £671 from my bank account in 3 days.

My eBay account is also suspended, so I can't properly manage the dispute.

I have packing evidence, proof of purchase and tracking. I'm honestly stressed because I could lose both the phone and the money.

Has anyone experienced this? Can I appeal through eBay seller protection or stop the charge while they review it?

Brief background, I sold an item for £250 - buyer then wants a return saying the item is defective. I sold it in full working order, I used it myself.

So I get the item back, clear evidence it's been tampered with, seals broken, missing screws and its very evident that parts have been swapped. There is a site ID in this electronic device which cannot be changed by the user, only specialist technical centres can do this. My device now shows another site ID, as a result of the parts swap.

I raise this with eBay, they have found in my favour so I don't lose out.

But, they have also refunded the buyer (at cost to eBay) - that I have an issue with on principle!

Why would eBay do that with the clear photo evidence plus other evidence that the buyer has been tampering?

Has anyone else had problems with eBay’s authentication service rejecting genuine luxury items?

Within the last 3 months, they have failed to authenticate 3 of my designer handbags.

I called eBay to ask what I can do if I have proof the item is genuine, and the lady on the phone told me that even if I have the original receipt/invoice or authentication paperwork from a reputable third-party authentication service, they still would not necessarily accept or consider it.

How is this possible?

So if their authenticator has even a small doubt, they can just reject the item without explaining exactly what is wrong and without asking the seller for any additional evidence?

I’ve been selling luxury goods for many years and I completely understand the need to stop counterfeit items, but surely there should be a better process for genuine items that are difficult to authenticate.

For example, Vestiaire Collective may ask for additional photos, labels, serial numbers or supporting documents if they need more information. That makes much more sense to me.

Why doesn’t eBay do the same instead of just rejecting the item with no proper explanation?

This is especially worrying because these decisions can potentially affect the seller’s account.

Has anyone else had genuine items rejected by eBay Authentication? Did they ever explain the exact reason?

Long story short, I got scammed on eBay. Sold an iPad, buyer ‘returned’ it (they sent a 30g item instead of the iPad Pro that never turned up). EBay refunded them, refuse to help. Royal Mail now rejected my claim because I don’t have the receipt from the post office that the scammer sent the item from….(I paid for special delivery, insured etc from RM)

What the hell am I supposed to do here? Feels like RM are just using a loophole to screw me

So this seller sold me these 2009 Prada shoes listed at £300 something and I offered £285 then she accepted. Then she cancelled my order citing that she can’t find them. So I dmed her to ask what happened. She said the sole was coming unglued and one of the heels is broken and that she cancelled it and deleted the listing because she didn’t include the defects in the description. I let her know that I’m still interested but I wanted to know more about the issues ( very polite). She said it isn’t stable enough for her so I offered £125 (considering I didn’t even know if it would be fixable) (I was really polite and thanked for her honesty and explained that because of the risk I offered for a lower price. (I was happy to negotiate as well). She told me to have a good day (so no).

I was alright with that, but then she relisted at an even higher price and did not disclose any of the defects she discussed with me in the description. I just found out I’ve been blocked when I was going to offer higher than £125 for the new listing. Did I do something wrong (maybe she was offended at my offer??). This experience is leaving a bad taste in my mouth. I really like the shoes and I’m ok with the risk but I blocked now so idk if it’s worth using second account to buy it or is the seller too dodgy? What do you guys think? Please let me know if I did something wrong I’m new to shopping like this?

Also this isn’t a professional seller they’ve sold like 5 things so this is not their job. And I got blocked after I liked the new listing not after the discussion so kind of weird.

I put up my gpu for sale a couple weeks ago. No interest in it but now today i get a message asking a couple questions, I answer and say I'll run a couple benchmarks this evening.

I go to do that now and i see that someone else bought it. No message nothing other than it being bought.

It was bought by an account from 2017 with only 1 review.

It seems a bit shady and idk what to think.

Value is 600 quid.

Should I be concerned?

So I sold an opened box phone which has never been activated and it was delivered last week Wednesday. On Sunday, the buyer messaged me that I should send a charger as the charger they had was slow charging the phone. I made them aware phones don't come bundled with chargers but as a gesture of good will I can either send them a brand new spare charger I had or refund them £10 to buy a charger. Was waiting for their response until I got an email from eBay that they have opened INAD with a claim that the phone goes blank when they receive a phone call.

Deep down I know this is just buyer's remorse given that they didn't have the decency to message me about this "issue". I have already accepted the return but my issue now is the fear of fraudulent return by them. How do I protect myself from possible label tampering?
