Selling TV - best postage method?

Hi all

looking to move on a TV I have, I have the original box with the foam so I’m pretty sure transit should be safe, but I was wondering what’s the best way to post it, is collection still risky that the buyer says they never recieved the item? I‘ve seen ebay offer a Yodel ‘store to door’ but on Yodel’s own website they wouldn’t accept the package as it’s too big so would choosing this just become a headache down the road? thanks

Item says returned but I've not received anything?

It says it got returned to me today, but I've not received anything. There also appears to be no writing under where it says delivered. Should I wait? Is there a mistake or is this an attempt at a scam?

First time seller, What should I price these at?

I don’t have the box and they’ve never been worn before. I’ve seen varying prices and I’m not sure what to price them at.

Ebay keeps deleting our listings and account

I work for a small but legitimate UK business which operates in a niche pet supplies market. We've tried a few times to sell our products on Ebay.

We're correctly registered as a VAT-registered business but any listings we put on Ebay are trashed and removed within 24 hours. We own the product, the trademark, everything.

Our products are listed fine by other sellers at vastly inflated markups compared to what we list for. I can only assume our listings are being reported by 'competitors' trying to stop us from trading on Ebay.

Ebay themselves are no help, we've proven time and again we are the legitimate owners of the brand and trademark but they won't do anything.

Should I cancel?

I'm a private seller and I've just sold an item for 185 quid on eBay. I haven't used eBay for ages preferring Vinted these days as there seems to be 10 fold the amount of traffic. However I decided to list this on eBay as well to see what happened and to my surprise it actually sold. The issue is it's sold.a member in Italy with 0 reviews. It has scam written all over it and I just can't be bothered with the hassle. I want to cancel and relist with the international unticked. I didn't realise it was active on the listing.

Will I get negative feedback if I delete the listing?

International buyer refused delivery - not GSP

Ok this is a first. So I sell low value items mostly niche interest memorabilia valued at between £1.5 and £4 with the majority being about £3.

I used to use the GSP however for such low value items shipping was extortionate even when only going to Belgium or France.

Wound up adding my own shipping (RM International Tracked) and haven’t really looked back. Yeah it’s a bit of a headache with customs forms but never really had much issue.

Until this week.

Noticed two days ago that one of my orders had a “dispatch overdue” label on it. Assumed it was a bug and thought nothing more of it. Saw it again yesterday, assumed the bug still hadn’t been fixed so again thought nothing of it. Logged back in this morning to see it still there.

Strange.

So I click through thinking maybe I hadn’t put the tracking number in (something I have done on more than one occasion before) or maybe the buyer had filed an INR.

Nope.

Turns out the day it first appeared the local postal service had attempted to deliver it and he’d marked it return to sender.

Address was definitely correct (same as he provided at checkout), and there’s no obvious reason why he’d refused delivery (at least to me).

My question is how does it now work?

The item is on its way back to me in the UK. I paid £10 or something like that for shipping plus the item value. I’d rather not be out of pocket for the shipping as it isn’t an issue with the item or the courier selected.

If I have to refund the £3, so be it. Not ideal but not exactly a bankrupting amount.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Never had this in the near year I’ve been sending stuff internationally myself.

Note: seller (me) is in the UK, buyer is in Greece

Buyer got refund, kept my iPhone, and eBay suspended my account

Hi everyone,

I recently sold an iPhone 17 Pro Max on my eBay account.
After the item was delivered, the buyer opened a return request claiming that they received the wrong item.

However, the buyer also mentioned that they selected the wrong payment method by mistake, which makes the whole situation very confusing.

eBay ended up issuing the buyer a full refund, permanently suspending my account, and I never received the phone back.

I have proof of postage, tracking information showing the item was delivered, and the phone’s IMEI number.

At this point, I’ve lost both the iPhone and around £1000, and I honestly don’t know what to do next.

I’m mainly looking for advice from anyone who has dealt with a similar seller scam before.
Is there any way to recover the money, report the buyer, or take legal action in the UK?

Any advice would really help. Thanks.

Seller not payed full postage

So I buy some books off eBay the seller dispatched them rather quickly and then 10 days later there still not here so I go to open a case with eBay and less than an hour after that the royal mail sends me a card through my letterbox saying that the seller hasn't payed the full postage and that they want me to pay the £3.50 now if the seller had been upfront about this I would've payed for the postage myself or gone somewhere else for the books. I just find this situation a bit ludicrous as I wait 10 days then am told I have to pay postage for something with free postage.

Edit: I've heard back from the seller and gotten a partial refund to be able to pay for the shipping or the equivalent of one book that I bought.

So confused by this whole "simple postage" stuff. Any help ?

I am going through my collection of magazines and trading cards, some rare, some cheap. I don't care about the cheaper stuff, but I have no control of choices for Special Delivery, Tracked and Signed, etc. Seems like if I want to use Royal Mail it keeps me stuck to the bog standard 48 hour. I used to sell things 2 years ago and everything has changed, even the loophole of making the price very high and then editing to lower it doesn't work now.

So I have a trading card worth a lot of money, less than the £750 that I hear is when Ebay allows you to manually change things, but still, £200 (estimated) is a lot to me, and I want to make sure the item is sent tracked and signed. If I choose to pay for the postage myself can I ignore whatever the Simple Delivery chooses ? If the buyer pays do I get any choice of Special Delivery or Tracked & Signed ? Or 24 hour ?

For sending overseas, especially the US, if I am not enrolled in to the GSP then can I choose my own postage service ? Or is that locked in too ?

I hate Vinted because Ebay have just copied EVERYTHING from them, lock stock and barrel, they could at least give people a choice if they want to use these so called simple things. I loved the full control I used to have.

How stringent are you with blocking buyers?

Just curious as I sometimes feel I’m maybe biased simply due to the experiences I’ve had with buyers.

This week for example I had a buyer offer £470 on an item then retract it and offer £440. Then immediately ask my best price.

I countered a bit higher than their original offer (which was about £80 off). They accepted and paid but of course the following morning asked to cancel.

Now that’s fine, people can change their mind but the reason I would consider blocking someone like that is I have found the buyers most fussy on price and so skittish when buying are often those that ask for discounts or a return later. I just cba to potentially deal with it and had I sent it out I’d biasedly bet they’d have done just that 😅

Anyone else the same? Anyone else the opposite and scarcely block people?

EBay new item prices are expensive

Quite often if I want to buy something specific and branded and new I look on both eBay and Amazon. I would say the majority of the time, the prices on eBay are higher and sometimes far higher than the price for the same new item on Amazon. I’ve looked at Phillishave shavers, Braun toothbrushes and heads, named manufacturers.

Amazon has the advantage of free next day delivery with prime, and also very easy free and quick returns if necessary. With payment returned the same day usually. Amazon also has the unconditional warranty, at least for 30 days from purchase.

It also applies to items from main dealers. I was looking at the price of a Swatch Mission to the Moon watch this week. For a new one, £250-320 on eBay. Three year old ones were £220-240. With probably no real warranty and £3.50 postage and delivery in up to a week’s time.

Direct from Swatch with free delivery and full warranty, and an unopened box, it is £240.

Is this seller capping?

Bought an item and waited 10 days and seller didn't put any tracking number for the item. I asked them and they said it got "lost" and that they couldn't share the tracking number because he would have to give his account details? I was quite sceptical and agreed with his refund offer - but then he put the reason as me requesting the cancellation. Is this seller just playing a sneaky game and never wanted to send the item in the first place? So he used it getting "lost" as an excuse?

Buy my own birthday gift. Get permanently banned TWICE in one day (Amazon & eBay). WTF is wrong with these bots?

So, my blood is literally boiling right now, and I need to vent about the absolute joke that is the automated security systems of both Amazon and eBay.

A bit of context: I live in Ukraine, and my birthday is coming up. I wanted to treat myself to a physical board game (Epic Spell Wars). The problem? There is absolutely ZERO localization for this game in my country. You simply cannot buy it locally anywhere. My only option was to buy it from a US seller and use a well-known, legal mail forwarding service to get it shipped across the ocean to me.

First, I went to Amazon. I actually had an old account there that I hadn't logged into in ages. I finally logged back in, added the game to my cart, and tried to check out. BAM. Instant permanent ban. Thankfully, Amazon at least had the decency not to charge my card before nuking my account.

I figured it was some weird glitch, they hate mail forwarders, or they just didn't like that my account had been dormant for so long. So, I went to eBay instead. Created a brand new account, filled in my real details, and linked my officially verified Visa credit card. No shady business, just a normal guy trying to get himself a birthday present.

I hit 'Pay'. The transaction goes through successfully, and the $51.81 is instantly deducted from my bank account.

And literally a second later? BAM. PERMANENTLY SUSPENDED on eBay too.

I didn't even get to breathe! They took my money, locked me out of my account, and completely canceled my birthday gift.

I immediately appealed to eBay customer support with the official bank receipt proving the card is mine and the transaction is legit. What do I get? A generic, copy-pasted bot response from some rep named "Lal S." telling me my account shows "activity patterns inconsistent with our policies" and that they are "unable to share specific details."

WHAT REVIEW PROCESS?! Your broken AI just robbed me! Do your algorithms just ban anyone from overseas who uses a freight forwarder and automatically treat them like a criminal without any human review?

Now I'm just sitting here in total limbo. My ass is on fire from the frustration. I have no game, my money is gone, I can't contact the seller because my account is locked, and eBay support is hiding behind bot templates. What a ridiculously "successful" day.

Has anyone else dealt with this absolute BS? I'm going to call my bank tomorrow to initiate a chargeback because I'm not wasting weeks arguing with a brick wall, but seriously... what a miserable way to treat people.

TL;DR: I just wanted to buy a board game for my birthday. Instead, I got instantly and permanently banned by both Amazon and eBay's automated systems on the exact same day, and now my money is held hostage by the bank for almost two weeks.

Ebay is terrible now

More than 75% of the items I've purchased in the last 12 months were not as described, or I was sent the wrong item.

Searching for items is now incredibly difficult and more tedious than I ever remember it was. For example: Sorting by lowest price shows lots of items with multiple options, and the lowest priced option is a paperclip or something.

I'm done with Ebay.

Amazon isn't perfect, but it's a million times better than eBay now.

Global shipping costs

I am the seller (UK) buyer is from china.
He is stating postage seems expensive and isn’t usually that much from the UK.
We only charge £6.50 postage and the rest is from the global shipping program, is this expensive or is that just the average price to pay ?

Thanks in advance.

Do buyers not read descriptions?

Hello everyone

I am not a professional seller, I just on occasion sell a few bits and bobs as I have always done on eBay, so I’m not completely used to how buyers are on this website, so forgive me if its a dumb question.

Ever since the offer function was introduced, I notice that turning off the option still has no effect on buyers messaging me saying things like ‘whats the best you can do if I collect now?’ This hasn’t just happened once, but a few messages now on one listing for example. I’m unsure why mentioning collection would reduce my price regardless, considering shipping is paid by the buyer on my listings, and boxes aren’t too expensive on amazon.

I would personally feel cheeky messaging that when the listing states ‘Offers won’t be considered on this product.’ Do you guys reply to buyers who still try to haggle a discount in these cases, or do you just ignore?

Problem customer

I sell as a business on ebay, delivery included in the costs.

The person in question came to site to get their boards measured so we could accurately cut them foam.

They wanted to wait while we did this but this isnt possible so they had to pay for delivery, to their address as they wasn't going to be in the area.

Anyway delivery is with parcel force. Shows a picture of this parcel outside of their house/safe space and yet miraculously the parcel has not been delivered has gone missing. Im sure this person is taking the piss, I say that because all they wanted to do was offer me 60 quid "cash". Because its expensive.

I wouldn't be out of pocket as its not my money but this is my project and I deal with it at the pointy end and so treat it as if its my own,

Where do I stand and what do I do because somehow with over 500 feedback from our project this is my first instance of this.

Account is suspended without any reason (MC999). I have funds on hold from sales what to do?

Hi, this company is honestly joke. I decided to recently sell lot of my items on very old albeit inactive ebay account I had so I can make some money on unused items. In the process I decided to sell my macbook as well for upgrade. Sold one hobby item and then mac was sold. I packaged item well and Ebay thought I was scammer for selling high value item which only reason why I was selling it there was I thought ebay was decent company with good protection for both buyers and sellers. Now my account is permenantly banned for no malicious reason and funds for my two transactions are on hold. Item is signed by buyer and delivered via royal mail. So it is delivered. Just before delivery was complete I got account suspended message on my inbox. Would they likely release funds in 190 days? I presume even if buyer is unhappy they cannot open return? (two agents gave conflicting answers on these). I was curious whether I would get my money back and I was wondering where is best places to contact as I don’t trust ebay anymore at all and question whether they are trying to get on the money. I contacted finance ombudsman but they said wait 8 weeks. Also I am considering small claims court or MOCL. They are very uncooperative and cannot give any details on my account suspension reason or status of my funds. If I cannot get my macbook back which agent says other party cannot open return I need to be able to get my money back. Any thoughts on what to do? Thanks.

order a pair of VANS, get a free firearm…

So something really crazy happened when I ordered my sister a birthday present on ebay. I had the gift, a pair of VANS, sent directly to her in another state. This morning as she’s opening the package, we’re on the phone and I hear her voice get weird. Turns out not only was it a pair of sneakers, but also a gun loaded with ammunition. Quite a strange freebie, right? She decided to call the cops not knowing if it’s illegal / registered, etc. Meanwhile I messaged the seller who didn’t end up getting back to me for hours. And I tired very hard to contact someone at ebay with no success at all bc everything is AI and I could not figure out a way to speak to a human. Still now almost 12 hours later haven’t heard anything back from ebay after leaving the report that a loaded possibly illegal firearm arrived with my order.

moral of the story … think twice before ordering from ebay and esp. sending directly to someone as a gift bc u never know what they’ll receive. and ebay, this is why u need an option for customers to reach a human!!
