This is turning out a bit trickier than the crown magnet even though there are less tabs and steps. Not sure if it is because it’s their earlier designs but the tabs didn’t all fit nicely. I am glad I didn’t start with this one. Would have scared me from doing more for sure! 😅
Hi all. New to this group. I have been building book nooks and discovered metal models along the way. I am currently building my first metal model. Consort Hua Phoenix crown fridge magnet. It is definitely something totally different from booknooks but I am loving it! This is my progress so far.
Discover Atlanta. This one was on my wishlist as soon as I saw someone who built it. I have always loved ocean themed things and the fact that there is a background that moves was so cool! It turned out this model was more challenging than I expected. The instructions were all good until I got to the rolling background. That part almost did me in. I had to walk away for a few hours and come back. Turned out the alignment of the holes and the gears had to be ABSOLUTELY PERFECT otherwise it just won’t work. 🤦🏻♀️Yes, the motor is quite loud so it kind of kills the ambience. But it is so tranquil just to look at it. I added extra bling from my leftover beads things. The quality of the wood was quite good, nothing broke. And this was the first kit that I get to BREAK something on purpose! It was part of the instruction!! 😆 I enjoyed colouring the edges on this one in particular as it really makes the whole thing pop more. Since a lot of side views were exposed, I felt that the burrs would have ruined the visual. Overall, I am very happy with this build and highly recommend it. Not a beginner kit but not incredibly difficult.
Longest Day in Chang'an lived up to its name. It took me awhile to finish this one. I had no idea how detailed it really was. From the picture and the boards I thought it would be like the Banquet of the Tang Dynasty which took me 2 days. This one was definitely much nicer in the details and taking the time to colour all the edges took time too. I really enjoyed building this one and am very happy with the final result. Lots of lights in this one did make me wonder if I should have done some mod to dim it a little but then I realize I like it bright so I can see all the details inside. This was an official licensed product from the drama. I have not seen it but I looked it up and watched the trailer. Now I feel like I need to go and watch it! I definitely recommend this over the Banquet of Tang Dynasty. This is typical Tonecheer wood with some sanding needed. I sanded almost every piece just so I can have a smooth surface to colour.
It broke! I have never solder anything before. How do I do it? Also I read somewhere that someone replaced it with a more power motor? Would that be easier than trying to fix the wire? Thank you!
Completed The Emperor's Study today! Painted most of the edges and added colour to the eyes of the dragon. I felt it was just missing something so I found a 3D file of a Ming Emperor and put him in. I think it makes it more personal. And my son and I both decided to leave him loose we can change him around. This one is going to my dad's house as he was impressed by all the details. I really enjoyed doing this. The lantern was a pain but I made it through. I didn't put the dust cover on it as I just want a clear look at everything. Such a pretty build. Highly highly recommend!
Tonecheer Wind Voyager Completed!! I really really love this one. The wings, the different buildings, the stairs and railings. So unique! Really brings back memories of my Lotus Tower build. It wasn't easy by any means but it was challenging in a good way. I learned how to coloured the edges which really gives the final model an little extra finesse. The pieces were ALL tight as heck and I was soooo afraid of breaking then as I put each layer on. I actually did the entire second half of the model with the boat on the gears so that probably didn't help. There wasn't a specific step that said to take if off after testing the gears so I just left it on there thinking that was how you are supposed to do it. Until the last step when it says, now you put it together! 🤣🤦🏻♀️This was a very enjoyable built and I am sad to see that I did it so quickly!! I thought it would take me at least to the weekend! Also apparently there has been earlier versions of the same model and mine is the latest which was from November 2025. Not sure why they didn't fix the tight fit issue but something definitely needs to improve for the next version. I would still recommend it, just have enough sand paper on hand or get the nail drill like I did. That helped a ton. Very very happy with it and it will be displayed proudly in my home!
I had such an amazing time building this. I absolutely loved the layers to each of the buildings! I could keep going with those little houses and buildings! It was so evident that so much thought was put into the design and execution. Sanding was required but that doesn't bother me at all. And for the first time, I MODDED! Thanks to someone's inspiration of adding greens to the mirror, I followed her example and added my own flowers to the back mirror and also to the tree. I ordered dry flowers from amazon and used those. So much easier than making my own. I tried to colour as many edges as I can and also the bicycle I coloured it silver and black. I didn't add the final chubby cat as it was just too out of scale but my son will print me a more to scale one at a later time. I am soooo happy with this build. Looking forward to the Ginzan Onsen in the summer when I build with my son.
Jiu Fen Old Street work in progress. Finding it much easier to have the pdf instructions than the booklet because then I can zoom in and see better.
So I took the plunge and went for this after seeing it for only $30 Cad on FB marketplace. I was worried pieces will be missing but thankfully all parts accounted for. Doing it slowly. I love the bling!
Finished it just now! Was a lot easier than I expected! And went by way too quickly! 🤩 I really enjoyed putting all the little buildings together and then to see how it all come together on each side. No issues with wiring or sensor so that was good. Good thing I always go over each sheet at the end, I missed like 6 things!! 🫣 And that's with checking everything off and I still missed!! 🤣 Guess I still need more practice! A great kit for a beginner or novice. Still sanded lots so made putting the walls together much easier. I recommend this kit!
I am having so much fun with this kit. Thank you to u/FlexyZebra who pointed me to the digital instructions. I now have it on my iPad where I can zoom in each step! Loving how it looks so far. The pieces are a bit finicky so I sand most of them just in case. And I got a three pack craft tacky glue which I think it is a Alleen’s tacky glue imitation and some other fast grab and quick dry glue. No smell which is a plus.
Morita Ya from Cutebee. After my coffee factory, I wanted something quick and easy and this one fitted the bill. Very straight forward. EXCEPT, almost ALL the pieces needed to be filed before snapping nicely. I didn't mind it because it's calming work and I enjoy listening to quiet music while I build. At first I was a bit bored with just building parts but as the build went on and things started to come together it became much more interesting and fun. Tiny mishaps here and there. Now that I'm done, I LOVE it and I remembered why I wanted to get it in the first place. I would have recommend it for a beginner if it wasn't for all the sanding. Not sure if I will buy from Cutebee again. Coming from ROKR to this, it was really obvious how much better Rokr's quality is. Also got my Booknook Global order on Saturday! I have the Ginzan Onsen and the Jinfen in the stash now!
