7 month old sleep help!
We’ve never sleep trained and our baby has fallen asleep independently at night (not naps) since she was about 8 weeks old (she turned 7 months yesterday), and was only waking really once to feed and slept like 7:30-6:30 ish otherwise. however the last 2 weeks she’s cried hard when we put her down, stands up holding the rails (she’s been crawling for a month and pulling to stand a lot recently) and has had more night wakes and has also been sooo much harder to get back to sleep after feeding overnight. And she cries hard at all the wakes unless I nurse her. If she’s not fully passed out nursing with the overnight wakes she’ll cry until I put her back on the boob :|
My question is.. is this just a developmental skills hiccup or do we need to do some sleep training method..? I’m on the fence and think it’s probably a passing phase but my husband thinks she’s just growing and changing and now needs sleep training support..?
Any help is appreciated!!
She is comfortable staying awake up to 3.5 /4 hours and her bedtime was getting too late so we also switched her to 2 naps thinking that could help. It’s helped for a more reasonable bedtime around 7/7:30 and she seems to be taking to the longer 2.5-4hr wake windows just fine.
We’re following something like 2.75/3/3.5-4 She usually naps 30-40 min independently for her first nap (rocked to sleep and wakes a bit on transfer) and I do a contact nap in the afternoon otherwise she’d take another short nap.
