Employee thinks I’m recording him
I’m a manager or the branch that I work at. I have an employee that thinks I record him even though I don’t. He claims that one day he looked over at my phone and “saw that it was recording”. I have never recorded my employees ever. I just gave him a raise and even gave him tougher jobs that I count on him doing. I basically promoted him. I love the dude but now he resents me and acts sour because he thinks that he’s constantly recorded. For example- I asked if he was doing okay and he said “I’m great” almost sarcastically. I said are you sure. He then says “are you trying to get a reaction out of me?” Like I said above. I trust him and I really like him. I have zero idea as to what to do because I don’t even know how to respond to this. It’s absolutely absurd. I’m a newer manager as well. Any tips or advice I would appreciate. To clarify- we have a conversation on the phone for nearly an hour. I told him that I have never recorded him or ever planned on doing some. That is weird to me. I finally got him to spill what he was having problems with and he told me about it. It still has absolutely zero to do with being “recorded”.
