One-month Italy vacation in early fall with toddler/infant

Following up on my post here (I understand that this may be stressful, but we've got a month off work, we likely won't again, so we need to do something): https://www.reddit.com/r/Europetravel/comments/1qu4nop/onemonth_vacation_in_early_fall_likely_italy_but/

And keeping in mind the sentiment here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Europetravel/comments/1tut1vw/could_we_maybe_try_being_a_bit_more_helpful_or_at/

My wife and I have put together the following rough itinerary for our family (3 year old, 11 month old) from mid-September through mid-October:

*US to Verona flight

*Rent car, drive to Lake Garda

*7 nights at a Lake Garda family resort (with day trips, hikes, etc.)

*Train to Florence

*5 nights in Florence

*Rent car, 10 nights at a Tuscany agriturismo (with sightseeing in the region)

*Train to Rome

*5 nights in Rome

*Rome to US flight

Key questions:

*Too much? Too little? Any general feedback would be great.

*Is 5 days in Rome too much with young kids? Should we extend our stay in Florence or elsewhere? Consider somewhere else and reduce Garda/Tuscany by a day or two?

*Any kid-friendly resort/hotel suggestions for Garda? We have a couple options, but we're seeing inconsistent reviews. $500-600/night is on the high end of what we're considering. Kid activities would be great.

*Any kid-friendly agriturismo recommendations?
