Former Employee Review of Safe Ship Moving

My experience working for Safe Ship Moving was extremely disappointing and ultimately one of the most unprofessional work environments I have ever encountered.

From what I observed, management was highly unprofessional and lacked accountability. Communication between departments was poor, and important information was routinely missed or mishandled. Sales representatives appeared more focused on closing deals than accurately documenting customer information. It was common for details provided by customers to be missing by the time a file reached verification. Customers would frequently discover that stops, supplies, names, phone numbers, or other critical information had been omitted or entered incorrectly.

I also witnessed situations where customers were given inaccurate information regarding payment methods that would be accepted at pickup. This created confusion and frustration for both customers and moving crews.

One incident that particularly concerned me involved a customer telling me that a representative had written the customer's business credit card information directly into the company notes so that Safe Ship Moving Services could pay the movers when they’ve come to pick up their items. As an employee, I found this alarming because numerous employees could potentially access those files. Whether intentional or not, storing sensitive payment information in that manner raises serious concerns about customer privacy and security.

I also became aware of customer complaints regarding damaged belongings during moves. While every moving company will receive complaints from time to time, hearing these concerns repeatedly contributed to my growing discomfort with the company's practices.

The office environment itself was chaotic and unprofessional. Employees regularly played handheld games, watched television shows during work hours, listened to music at high volumes, and vaped inside the workplace. Managers often yelled across the office, creating an atmosphere that was disruptive and stressful. As someone with asthma, being around vaping in the workplace was especially difficult and negatively affected my ability to work comfortably.

My employment ended shortly after I raised concerns regarding a scheduling issue. My schedule was changed without my knowledge, and neither the scheduling manager nor management properly informed me. When I expressed that changing an employee's schedule without notice was unprofessional and asked for accountability, I was terminated shortly afterward and told it was due to performance issues.

The timing raised serious questions for me. If performance was truly the issue, it seemed unusual that my termination occurred only days after I formally criticized the handling of the scheduling situation. From my perspective, it appeared that raising concerns was not welcomed.

By the end of my employment, I felt that customer service often took a back seat to sales and retention. I frequently observed pressure being placed on customers to keep their moves booked even after they had expressed a desire to cancel. This left me with the impression that revenue was prioritized over genuinely helping customers.

Based on my experience, I would not recommend working for this company, and I believe both prospective employees and customers should carefully research the business before making a decision. The company would benefit from greater professionalism, accountability, and a stronger focus on customer service and employee concerns.
