With Guitar Center Drum-Off returning, I think they should shake up the format a bit.

Obviously in the past, it’s just been a matter of going out and playing a 3 minute solo, which is cool obviously, but that’s like going to a boxing match and watching the contenders take turns on a punching bag (that’s the way I see it anyway).

So- let’s shake it up a bit. Picture this-

2 drum kits on stage, one red, one blue, DJ in the middle. Contenders will be matched like a boxing tournament, brackets system etc.

Contenders will flip a coin to decide who goes first, then they get 90 seconds each to open solo. Then the DJ throws on a loop and they trade 8s/16s for like 5 mins, go hard or go home. Let it run into extra time if it’s getting juicy

Audience has red/blue cards, (it’s too easy to rig a button system), must be at least a 60/40 majority audience vote for a win. Failing that it goes to the judges (preferably comprised of the best drummers in the game, GC can afford it)

Live commentary from Craig Reynolds and El Estepario too.

The standard in the GC Drum Off is already wild- imagine what it’d be like with the added pressure of having to actually battle it out. I’d literally watch it on Pay Per View.

What do you guys think? (Pls no “drums aren’t a competition” fools, we all know that, but the GC drum off literally IS a competition)

And if GC doesn’t do it like this, hopefully one day a competition like this will happen because it’d be the coolest shit ever.
